Behold - the words of the prophet from a decade ago: "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? It's, like, incredible."
Truer words have never been spoken...for the faithful, it seems like there is nothing left to be seen that hasn't already been internally justified.
It all bears witness to the power of perception - Norman Vincent Peale's posthumous coda, given life through his most famous parishioner.

What a wonderful testimony! Even though I'm not Pentecostal, I can certainly believe Jesus can heal and rejoice when he does, and that you have been blessed with two more decades with your husband.Valerie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 5:55 pm When my husband was in a coma from stroke & sepsis 21 years ago, the intensive care nurse Dean was not very positive about him coming out of it- so as was the way we believe, I was praying over him like pictured, laying hands on him and praying out loud. Dean was working on the patient on the other side of the curtain. While I was praying, Neil started coming out of his coma (I’m sure Dean could hear me praying) and I shouted over to Dean “Dean, he’s coming out of it!” So Dean came over & it was the beginning of Neil’s healing. As Pentecosts it was what we were taught to do from Scripture. It didn’t seem “weird” to do what Jesus taught.

There is such a thing as "hyperbole", something Jesus himself often engaged in (since we have people here busy making claims that Trump or some artist thinks Trump is Jesus). Trump has not, however, ever shot anyone, let alone in the middle of 5th Ave.Dan Z wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 10:46 pm Behold - the words of the prophet from a decade ago: "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? Of course, those who are trapped in a belief system that Trump is indeed some kind of god, but a malevolent one, will be stuck thinking this is some kind of "apologism" or "defence" of Trump, rather than merely an observation. In today's polarised world, simply making an observation about Trump that does not agree he is a demon-king is misinterpreted as "support" for him.

You’re right. Trump’s quote about shooting someone on 5th Avenue is hyperbole. Trump didn’t actually shoot anyone. The question is what is it hyperbole about?JohnH wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 8:38 amThere is such a thing as "hyperbole", something Jesus himself often engaged in (since we have people here busy making claims that Trump or some artist thinks Trump is Jesus). Unconditional loyalty. Political immunity. Trump’s own belief that it doesn’t matter, his supporters will remain unquestionably loyal to him.
And for some of Trump’s supporters, we are seeing that belief validated in real time.

“Political immunity” - yes, it turns out the voters like being in charge of who the President is.
Once again, this is conspiratorial thinking not grounded in reality - Trump supporters don’t have unconditional loyalty. And for some of Trump’s supporters, we are seeing that belief validated in real time.

Re: DjT
Just saying “I’m popular” doesn’t require an hyperbolic scenario about shooting someone in the middle of New York City. The quote is about Trump’s durability of support, not just the support itself. If it were just about popularity, there wouldn’t be a need for that kind of extreme example.JohnH wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 9:13 amOr it’s just a statement by someone that they’re popular.Szdfan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2026 9:09 am You’re right. I think it’s true that not all of Trump’s supporters have unconditional loyalty. But as Trump’s behavior grows increasingly erratic, the invocation of “TDS” whenever anyone criticizes him is an indicator of extreme loyalty. That’s the dynamic people keep pointing to.
