Fauci E-mails and Honesty

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

In light of the Fauci e-mails, do you trust him?

I take it the word 'grave' has some intent in your disagreement ? I enjoy the way you add some fun with a play on words but if not, I would still love to read that disagreement.

I should learn to have more grace toward typos, but some of them are just irresistible (or maybe I was predestined to comment on them). Read your third paragraph again.
I often find what I wrote, on looking at it again, was worded in a way that can be mis-leading to the point I was trying to make. And of course, there are those dangling participles, etc. Believe it or not the only 100% I ever received in school was in English Grammar. Weird eh ? (as we Canucks put it).
Sounds like he wants you to extend him grace, OJ.

Maybe he was talking about the empty grave of Jesus. Jesus is God, you know. :)

I think that's the approach many people took in the past, too, when I asked for evidence for their claims back then.
And examples were given ... and given ... and given. I am give out on giving examples.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

To me, Fauci is a scientist who tries to avoid playing politics, he said essentially the same things under the Trump and Biden administrations, and he has taken a lot of heat precisely because he did not say the things that Trump wanted him to say. It's ironic to see the people who warn about cancel culture tearing him down with generalities, promoting these narratives in social media.

And yes, this does fit into a "predefined narrative", which fits into your feelings about him.

There will be an investigation into Wuhan. If anyone discovers a real smoking gun in his email, there will be investigations into that as well. We'll see what facts emerge. Honesty and truth have a lot to do with facts.
On what basis is your confidence that there will be fair and balanced investigations into uncovering what happened in Western China, particularly if such an investigation would make politically powerful people in America look really bad?

See, that's the whole thing. Some of you refuse to accept any authority that would be able to make your side look bad. Elections don't count. Investigations don't count. Scientific consensus doesn't count. There's no such thing as facts and knowledge, only partisan positioning.

And the more people choose that framework, the more it becomes true, they see how effective it is in polarizing us and getting identification and loyalty. Ask Masha Gessen how that works in Russia. As me how that worked in East Germany.

Investigations and data and elections may not be perfect, but they are a whole lot more trustworthy than social media among people who have no access to the actual data and no background in the questions we are exploring. And they are fundamental building blocks for a functioning democracy. Without that, how can people ever reach agreement across political identities? Scientific communities are good at examining data from various angles and opinions. That's what they do.

Alternatively, we could focus on the Kingdom of God and simply not spend our time on the latest partisan talking points.

  My wife had to point out this 'grave' error. Talk about slow. I think my tongue got in front of my eye teeth and I couldn't see what I posted. Perhaps less teeth may help ?

See what some of you have to look forward to ?

By the way it's not nice to pick on old people, OJ. You could send them to an early grave ya know. :P

Time for a nap. :)

According to an article in the Washington Post, it doesn't appear that much pressure is being put on China to be transparent in this matter.

You can always scroll by threads you find triggering. No one is forcing you to take the poll or even comment.

You do so because you feel you have something to say. And so do the others.

The kingdom of God is not divorced from the world in which it exists. The government has stretched it's bony fingers to disrupt one of the most sacred institutions of the church: the public gathering. It has bolstered its case for doing so through deceit.

It isn't a partisan issue at all. It is absolutely and fundamentally the purview of the church to cry foul.
