I should learn to have more grace toward typos, but some of them are just irresistible (or maybe I was predestined to comment on them). Read your third paragraph again.![]()

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.

On what basis is your confidence that there will be fair and balanced investigations into uncovering what happened in Western China, particularly if such an investigation would make politically powerful people in America look really bad?Bootstrap wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:57 amI think that's the approach many people took in the past, too, when I asked for evidence for their claims back then.
To me, Fauci is a scientist who tries to avoid playing politics, he said essentially the same things under the Trump and Biden administrations, and he has taken a lot of heat precisely because he did not say the things that Trump wanted him to say. It's ironic to see the people who warn about cancel culture tearing him down with generalities, promoting these narratives in social media.
And yes, this does fit into a "predefined narrative", which fits into your feelings about him.
There will be an investigation into Wuhan. If anyone discovers a real smoking gun in his email, there will be investigations into that as well. We'll see what facts emerge. Honesty and truth have a lot to do with facts.

Re: Fauci E-mails and Honesty
See, that's the whole thing. Some of you refuse to accept any authority that would be able to make your side look bad. Elections don't count. Investigations don't count. Scientific consensus doesn't count. There's no such thing as facts and knowledge, only partisan positioning.
And the more people choose that framework, the more it becomes true, they see how effective it is in polarizing us and getting identification and loyalty. Ask Masha Gessen how that works in Russia. As me how that worked in East Germany.
Investigations and data and elections may not be perfect, but they are a whole lot more trustworthy than social media among people who have no access to the actual data and no background in the questions we are exploring. And they are fundamental building blocks for a functioning democracy. Without that, how can people ever reach agreement across political identities? Scientific communities are good at examining data from various angles and opinions. That's what they do.
Alternatively, we could focus on the Kingdom of God and simply not spend our time on the latest partisan talking points.

See what some of you have to look forward to ?
By the way it's not nice to pick on old people, OJ. You could send them to an early grave ya know.
Time for a nap.

According to an article in the Washington Post, it doesn't appear that much pressure is being put on China to be transparent in this matter.

But there is one line that I have a grave disagreement with.

Possibly with special thanks for poor Valerie (with her ornery new tech device).

You can always scroll by threads you find triggering. No one is forcing you to take the poll or even comment.
You do so because you feel you have something to say. And so do the others.
The kingdom of God is not divorced from the world in which it exists. The government has stretched it's bony fingers to disrupt one of the most sacred institutions of the church: the public gathering. It has bolstered its case for doing so through deceit.
It isn't a partisan issue at all. It is absolutely and fundamentally the purview of the church to cry foul.
