THE POWER GRANTED HER is breathtaking. Greater-than POTUS. This is intoxicating stuff for anyone.
Yet, she’s so weak/empty she was moved to tears at the idea Musk might buy Twitter. What is this madness?!
She did not buy Twitter. She was paid a handsome salary and GRANTED power.
i first began to think about (who’s behind the scenes?) several years ago when Robert pointed out the probable description of “average FB employees” .. nothing there like well-educated+studied editors of the past. No evidence they exist even for remote oversight.
(FB suspended my account - coincidentally, a few weeks before the 2016 election.) My FB account was largely unused. Even moreso since.
i began to think of MSM employees - many young graduates of lib-indoctrinating colleges.
There are statistics on the vast imbalance of university profs being liberals, no attempt at balance, no explanation or apology. Not just state universities. Christian schools are hard-pressed not to go woke, too.
The Elon Musk purchase may be more important than could be imagined.
She was probably crying because she knew her $20 million a year salary for a job doing nothing but silencing conservatives was coming to an end. Now she might have to get a real job.
Was her salary actually $20 million annually?
Did she truly do nothing at all, other than silencing conservatives?
When we talk about free speech most people think of the right to say specific things. But there’s another side which is the the ability to say things anonymously. And Twitter was much more supportive of the second type of free speech than most other social media platforms. Twitter was willing to go to court in order to not reveal identities. This is something that is really important in some countries, say India and Iran.
All this to say, according to people who know about these things, Vijaya Gadde was considered to be the reason why Twitter was so strong in this area.

Elon Musk is going to discover that if you want to create an inviting environment where people want to gather and hang out then you don't park an open air cesspool in the middle of the living room or dining room.
And if you want to attract advertising dollars you have to make corporations comfortable that the ads they pay good money for aren't wrapped around racist, misogynist, and obscene language.
Firing all the people who kept that from happening is not a good start.

I wonder if it would work to have, on one Twitter, a main living room/dining room where respectable conversation and advertising takes place; and more of a free speech backyard where other people could gather around the dumpster fire and cesspool. Maybe have a paywall or 21 year old minimum to enter that backyard beer garden.

Do you Twitter? i never have. i wish Mr Musk well.
Comparing it with this forum, your idea makes me think of questions about putting (Politics) in a private subgroup, leaving the main living room respectable .. the reverse is what was chosen. i have no idea how the politics-free subgroup is doing. i hope well.
mike uses Twitter, i presume effectively+efficiently. maybe he will share some tips?

They seem to be happy, since they only have to read about politics when someone drags it into the wrong thread. And you're getting close to the line by mentioning the White House, Congress, a congressperson, Trump/POTUS, and elections on the last two pages of this thread, which is not in Politics. It is really not necessary for politics to enter into every conversation.

Other forums have tried that. It takes about a nanosecond for an unmoderated forum to be filled with the purveyors of porn, financial and health-related scams like erectile dysfunction meds, and every violent, racist, and extremist ideology that gets squeezed out of civilized conversation.

There’s a big gap from what you just said and banning people for saying “men can’t get pregnant”.

His "clever tweet" as you put it probably cost him a billion dollars in advertising revenue. Which is twitter's only source of revenue and what keeps it afloat.
