to her, most of the U.S. would equate to being on the moon. seriously speaking.
Reminds me of how the city Brazilians always asked us if we felt safe out with the Indians. I always told them it was much safer there than anywhere near the city. One of our pilots once brought a young Brazilian pilot along with him on a flight out to our village. I cannot remember the circumstances now, but for some reason (probably weather changes) at one point it appeared that they would stay the night with us in the village. He was terrified. (For real.)
Then there was the story that we would hear sometimes back in Oklahoma, about the New York woman who stopped at the first police station she came to at or near the state border, and asked for a police escort through "Indian Territory".

We have been keeping Sasha, her family and friends in prayer. A relative of ours who is in law enforcement says that there are a large number of cases with sex trafficking in the Southwest US. I hope that is not what happened to Sasha.

Then they'd want to keep her alive, wouldn't they? The overwhelming majority of female homicide victims know the perpetrator, at least to see them.

If she refused then no. Grooming happens so she may have known her abductors.

I think that is true. Not sure though that it is quite as high a percentage when it is a kidnapping case such as this at least appears to be. I am confident that the police will follow up on all possible leads including those that might have known her. I always think that must be an awful thing for innocent friends to have to go through questioning like that. For that reason as a total outsider that has no ability to help in solving the case I am not even letting my mind go there. That is the police and local people's job.

Unfortunately, people disappear a lot in the Navajo Nation area, and areas with a lot of cartel activity near the border have more violence against women. In the latter case it’s usually someone known to the attacker.

None of this gets much attention in the media. They’d rather scare us about the “Russians”.

Unfortunately, some brainiac-activists in politics decided it’s racist to report FACTS on both crime and disease. It’s no longer “just” media bias affecting poor reporting. Increasingly, it’s illegal to report raw facts.

In my view this is a HAZARD to public health and safety, for nothing more than politically correct theories and experiments. There are no disclaimers on reported statistics to alert about changes and restrictions made in reporting. There should be.

45 years back, we lived in the beautiful community of Santa Barbara, CA, mid-1970’s.
In the most lovely, quiet neighborhoods, visiting local beaches and parks,
we had everything stolen - “that was not nailed down.”

Faceless thieves everywhere, never seen or caught. At a beach, our car window broken, worthless items stolen. Our car stolen, out of our basement parking garage. Our cottage-converted from a garage, broken into, ransacked, robbed. It was unnerving, mostly in broad daylight. These things happen in a flash. They are planned and deliberate.

Even robberies like that leave you feeling vulnerable and violated.

i worried Sasha may have been taken across the border. No word of that.

it is very likely the person(s) knew her, in the least may have seen her in some kind of everyday action, even if only once. the father of a friend, a sub-contractor working on a property, a customer ..

random attacks happen.
this may not have been the perp’s first attack. by the time kidnapping+murder happen, in the least, there is usually a list of lesser offenses. police have ideas, leads. sometimes correct, not always.

My family lives on the west coast, i’m in Illinois.
These places can no longer be trusted to provide accurate reporting on crime, or disease.
Facts are just not PC. There is no reliable way of knowing what is happening, where, or with whom.

Don’t ask for facts.
If you dare to ask, be prepared to be labelled a racist, homophobe, extremist, etc.; prepare to face tangible penalties in addition to damning social labels. Like loss of employment.

Those early comments regarding a possible break-in at the church house, or some money missing - was that substantiated fact, or just hear-say? (I think that was in the thread that was removed, right?) Obviously I don't know more about this than any other person who basically knows nothing about it, but I don't see anything in the reported facts so far that clearly suggests that the perpetrator knew her, or was known to her.

I don't know anything more than anyone who knows nothing about it either, really. :D

I do recall a few statistics we learned from when my sister-in-law was murdered, tho. Law enforcement knows far more in these cases than they share, and that is certainly for a good reason.
