Easier to kill babies, harder to kill worms?

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

There’s plenty of opportunity to do so.

Of course a lot of Christians aren’t actually opposed to abortion despite pretending to be so. It’s rather pointless to try to work with someone who keeps on, for example, promoting diverting more money and political capital to Planned Parenthood, which is what any Christian who promotes the Democratic Party is doing.

I guess there isn't.

I don't promote any political party and I won't join one. I'm against abortion. But if I disagree with right-wing views, people accuse me of promoting the Democrats and try to associate me with abortion and homosexuality. That makes it rather difficult to work together against abortion, and it makes it hard to have a reasonable discussion about many things as Christians.

That makes me think these conversations are often more about loyalty to the political right than they are about abortion. And there's a level of slander and vilification that seems out of place for the Kingdom of God.

For all the great work that is done by so many, it’s mind-boggling to think this continues to be a discussion. Doors are open. Today, these efforts are getting more public recognition and protection, but, these ongoing efforts are made, without either.

The question, “How can we help?” is better posed, “How would you like to help?” -
If you are interested, there are numerous ways to engage. Stop ignoring them, might be a first step.

There is no longer any way to wiggle around this. No grey area.
When TOP DNC leaders brag about and celebrate the party’s official platform, that’s as clear as it gets.

It’s heartbreaking that many are so entrenched with their disdain of “the unworthy others,” they would sooner support murder than break ranks, but, there it is. They blame the unworthy others for their choices, so, that, somehow, makes it ok in God’s sight. Good luck with that. :-|

“He/she/it made me do it.”

Those famous words in The Garden, generations later, still the go-to excuse.
i was just reading again this morning. :D

I don't know anything about the law in this post, but I'm pretty sure it is not the test of true Christianity.
The law about worms. Nope. No one is saying it is. The other law which is the one he was asking about I think might be.
I don't know much about that law either. I know I'm against abortion.

This testimony seems to say that an abortion would be allowed up to birth even for just vaguely defined "mental health" reasons, it is probably really bad:

But I have to admit that nothing in the earlier thread inspired me to even look up the bill. Worms are often used as bait, and that seemed to be their purpose in this thread.

I would be more likely to be interested in a thread that asks how Christians who are opposed to abortion can work together to do something. A thread in which Christians who are opposed to abortion can assume we are on the same side and focus on what we should be doing.
I think this thread was just looking for confirmation with no buts. Nothing more and nothing less. I think admitting and doing that might go a long way to starting that next conversation.

Do you have a simple question that you would like a simple answer to?

I've said I'm against abortion. I've said this law looks really bad. I don't see any buts in those statements. I've been saying the same kinds of things for decades, not just here, but consistently everywhere. What exactly are you looking for? I really don't think abortion is what we disagree about.

Well, I’m not loyal to the political right. I’m just opposed to the political left.

There’s a big difference. Part of entering the kingdom of God is abandoning one’s allegiance to the political left.

i can’t speak for appleman, or ragpicker, and would not want to try.
(for me) a litmus test here would be refusing to vote for candidates that openly support+promote gov policies, protections+funding for abortion, now leading into infanticide.

“i’m against it,” but, “i voted for it.”

for those on this forum who do not vote, encouraging support (and, thus, even votes) for such candidates is equivalent. (i.e., i anticipate this will be how Jesus will view it.)
to speak with disdain about “conservatives” while favoring present-day liberals, is, frankly, hard to fathom.

i cannot imagine this:
Jesus: you respect the sanctity of life?
Sinner: yes!
Jesus: you voted for abortion?
Sinner: yes, but i didn’t agree with it.
Jesus: i see. well, then.

i know this is a tough one for many Christians.
for as much effort as Catholics put into prolife work all over the world, for many, this remains a big problem. as far as i know, Catholics vote, or have no church restrictions regarding voting.

for me, by 2016, both obama and hillary had openly stated abortion as a primary party platform.
i’m not a card carrying party member, never have been, so, maybe it was easier for me to simply accept them at their word, AND, i was GRATEFUL for their candor!

you see, in the past, most politicians just lie or beat around the bush about so many important matters, it’s easy to be confused.

they removed all doubt. and, they/their party have not budged on those declarations.
honesty in politics. impressive. now, if people will just believe them at their word.

Amen and amen. Looking through the forum archives I saw one person stumping for Hillary and Obama; plainly saying he was going to vote for them; and then arguing against Republicans and for the Democrats like a lobbyist. Then claims neutrality when cornered about his promotion of the Democrats. The MN archives don’t lie and stand as testament. We pray for his conversion of heart away from the political games.

I don’t think I presented my question well. I’ll own that. I do note that on my Facebook wall I offered assurances and protections for anyone who spoke up with similar dismal results.
