While there is some overlap, they are two separate categories. There are citizens and legal immigrants who have difficulty with English. There are illegal immigrants whose command of the language is excellent and would not be disqualified from a CDL on that basis.
When all this becomes one issue, I think the real motive is laid bear. Christians need to be on guard to avoid getting sucked into the vortex ...

I don't defend lawlessness and there likely is fraud involved which should be addressed. What I am challenging is the rising tide of xenophobia and fear mongering being used to manipulate emotion and empower political movements. Xenophobia does not become something else if you hide behind legalities. I challenge this on a Christian forum because it is anti- Christian and I believe the church is responsible for itself much more than the policies and attitudes of the world. I don't vote so in a real sense I am not directly challenging the president and his media empires but the church is my realm of responsibility.

The sad fact is this movement of suspicion and blame shifting is actually promoted, supported, defended and embraced primarily by Christians and their pet media. It's hard to communicate the shame I feel about this. The American church is trading a birthright for some soup of temporary political alliance.

There’s a political movement that promotes lawlessness which is not wise to ignore.

That is true. The existence of one ditch does not negate the other ditch.

It really is not a ditch to want people to obey the laws which the lack of obeying laws in all the categories you listed in your form of post affects people, and it doesn’t seem like you have a problem with that, but you should shouldn’t you?

I edited my previous post because it really is a sign of the last days. Lawless this will abound and the love of mini will grow cold because of that, but I certainly don’t wanna be defending a movement that lead leads to that.

If the story was "Traffic Safety endangered by insufficient driver screening", I would agree driver screening should be investigated.

I am not Valerie and I don't have a CDL, but hubby and some of our adult children do. I Know all the hoops they had to go through to acquire a CDL. They paid to go to a CDL school, which was numerous sessions. (All taught with English speaking instructors). I am not lamenting the CDL process, and the yearly examinations required of them having CDLs. But to think that people who have not mastered the English language, illegal immigrant or otherwise, are able to acquire CDL's, irks me.

3. Eating of pets
4. Rape and other sexual violence
5. Various violent crimes
6. Traffic deaths
7. Human trafficking
8. Fentanyl

10. Disease
You don't distinguish between illegal immigrants and Immigrants who came to this country legally. And that is a ploy used by the worldly mainstream media. They don't distinguish between the two and accuse those who do not support the lawless entry into this country, as people who are opposed to ALL immigrants. Which isn't true. I am sure that everyone here on Mennonet supports and welcomes the lawful entry of immigrants into this country.

Absolutely Grace. We welcome them with open arms. Our president has said that over and over again. In fact, he married “legal” immigrants (two).
He’s been falsely accused of being racist because they simply know people who are not informed will fall for it.
I too don’t appreciate the implication that I am against immigration- I am all for legal immigration as are people in the Republican Party.

Somehow I feel like this could be addressed without hand-waving away the fraud and illegalities involved. There are some of us who actually have direct industry exposure and see firsthand the safety and operational problems created by unskilled drivers and language barriers. Call me xenophobic if you wish, but I think that English language proficiency requirements for commercial drivers were put in place for a very good reason and the decision by the government some time ago to effectively drop enforcement of the law was not good policy.

What I absolutely disagree with is the ongoing framing by certain news outlets and certain individuals suggesting that immigrants in general are more likely to be dangerous or bad people. I think the crackdown on CDL mills and unqualified drivers could and should have happened without pushing the foreigner/immigrant angle. I think the focus should be on the safety aspect rather than the nationality aspect.
