Valerie:
I’m not trying to go around or out-smart my doctor but learn enough from “other doctors” to try supplements. We do have the same goals (our doctor of 21 years) and we live & appreciate him but he’s close minded about supplements other than the normal multi, D3, C. ..
i didn’t intend to suggest this, at all. sorry.
i was attempting to describe my stand alone experience. i’m sure i am greatly influenced by my mother, who defied doctors’ expectations a number of times, remarkably surviving ICU a few times with heart attacks! scaring everyone so badly. :?

i’ve taken your suggestions a number of times, you+haithabu had worthwhile discussions during the pandemic. he must be in health care? i don’t know in what way.

he shared some pretty specific details about how to calculate doses of IVM. do you remember?
i was looking for it today when i found this interesting page:

haithabu wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 11:15 am My son visited a doctor about his knee the other day and had a revealing conversation. He asked "I know some people who definitely won't vaccinate so they are taking horse Ivermectin. I'm afraid that it is unsafe. Is there anything preventing you from prescribing them human Ivermectin since that can do no harm and just might help?"

He was testing the rumour that Alberta doctors are not allowed to prescribe Ivermectin for anything other than scabies.

The doc looked uncomfortable and replied "There may be some other doctors who might but I won't because it doesn't work."

"Well, in that case is there anything you would recommend that they take for prophylaxis or early treatment to mitigate their risk?"

The doctor did not answer.

This is the story of the pandemic. Complete abdication of the medical field in terms of prevention and early treatment. How hard is it to say "Tell them to at least take Vitamin C and D?"
i had similar experience with pharmcies in Illinois, i was told prescriptions for IVM were not allowed.

i appreciate J.M.’s description of authentic science, he’s not wrong. And authentic science is important.
However, there is also junk science AND (i think) lay people will always have their own experiences+observations, home remedies, etc., which will have varying degrees of results.

i believe every culture has its form of medicine men.
i think it’s completely normal, when things are bad, the impulse is to “do something”.

i don’t see it as a hard either/or.

hard science requires time and is often expensive. it is valuable.
for better and worse, lay people will experiment.

and, of course, there will be scammers+profiteers mixed in, not for good measure. :-|
No worries, just wanted to clear that up. I really liked Hasabu and I was so worried about him. I’m so thankful to know that he’s alive and well must’ve been that ivermectin.
I had a a nurse in Columbus instruct me on how to take ivermectin.
Nod line to hear from haithabu!!

The risk of taking ivermectin are extremely low. You don’t bolster your position at all by this kind of fearmongering.
As long as you have the "human" concentration, with a "human" product insert telling you EXACTLY how much to take and how often. Also a "human" doctor to screen for possible contraindications. I have seen it on the hospital formulary before, for treatment of parasites. I could probably calculate you something approximating a correct dose. Most people with an average education could not.
Please describe exactly how the veterinary formulations will cause any problems.

Be specific.
Concentration and/or inactive ingredients are not appropriate for another spices, product insert does not cover dosing information and the correct list of complications and side effects for a different species. The delivery system not appropriate for a different species.

That is why much veterinary medicine is species-specific. You MIGHT get away with it, but then again you might not.

Mr. Trump directed health officials to split the measles, mumps and rubella vaccines, which are currently given as a combined product, into three separate shots. “Together, there could be a possibility they’re quite lethal,” he said.

There is no evidence that the combination M.M.R. shot is dangerous, and many decades of evidence for its overall safety. It is associated with a small risk of seizures if a child develops a fever, but that type of seizure — which can occur after any high fever — does not cause long-term harm, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Individual shots for the three diseases are available in some countries, but would need to be tested in the United States before they could be administered. Requiring parents to bring their children in for multiple visits may deter some from getting the required shots.

Splitting the M.M.R. vaccine serves “no medical purpose and would force parents to make multiple appointments, needlessly take time off work and make child care arrangements,” said Dr. Richard Besser, the president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and a former acting director of the C.D.C.

I’m skeptical this actually will happen but possibly great news!
Wife says there are no approved single vaccines in the US. I suspect she is right. If new ones need to be tested, manufacturing lines need to be stood up. Full trials need to be conducted. They will need to find a company willing to invest millions in drug development for a drug that may become useless after this current administration. This shows a profound misunderstanding of how the actual NDA (New Drug Application) process works.

No sane company will invest in this.

As I said, I’m skeptical.

Although you seem to ignore the fact that these vaccines existed and have been made before in the US with approval. While I don’t know exactly the process, it would seem that a prior approved medication would only need quality assurance and perhaps a process inspection.
There would be no new development.
Also let’s be realistic here, they are not growing 3 viruses in the same vat, they are combining the attenuated viruses and preparing the vaccine from it. Separation would be an industry change not a research requirement.
My conclusion is these changes would be a legal process but not a heavy cost.
Bottom line is legal requirements could be lessened or increased situationally for something like this.
if any company thought supporting the administration was worth the cost investment… they would do it.

We had a drug that went out of use. To get it back, we had to do everything except the efficacy testing. It was an easy-to-produce pharmaceutical. F18 Na, sodium fluoride, as a bone agent.

Unless they were exactly replicating the prior drug, which, in the case of a vaccine that has gone, I doubt if they can do that. There are just so many variables. I would expect they will have to do a whole NDA. Even proposed changes in the insert must be presented with evidence and approved. If (and I doubt it) a manufacturer wants to produce this, it will take at least 2 years. Probably a combined phase 1 & 2, followed by a phase 3 that I assume will have to validate that the "new" formulation produces the desired antibodies and that they are sufficiently persistent. No sane manufacturer is going to release a vaccine that has "rushed" attached to it.

Guess my children won't be taking the MMR vaccine then, because until they can make one without aborted-baby parts, I want no part of such works of darkness.

You can go ahead and keep following the Pope, though. As an Anabaptist, I find comfort in knowing my forbearers rejected popery back in 1525, and I am glad to join them - even if it means ultimately laying down our lives just as they did.

I am not following the pope. I find it very amusing that I am actually on the same side of this issue, it is almost certainly the only issue.

J M,

What bothers me is you’re on the side that would see me and my children prohibited from attending school, working, and so forth, simply because of my religious convictions about abortion.

Doesn’t that bother you just a little bit?
