Yet most oppose this war. About 2/3 of Americans oppose the Iran war. They believe Iran is a threat, they do not believe this war is the solution.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Then why discuss this on MN at all?
Good question- why is there such interest in war on a Mennonite Discussion Forum? Of course I’d be interested as to why there is, it’s perplexing.

No one lines war. I bet 2/3 of the 2/3 aren’t taking the time to listen & learn. I imagine most don’t think Iran is really a threat, most probably spend more time on Facebook than really learning.

I hold those who have served for decades to be the best to listen to. NO ONE wants nukes in this regime that chants @Death to America” These days watching how this country has embraces so much sin & evil, I don’t have a great deal of trust in their analysis of the situation.

So please, do share your superior sources so we can also read them. An awful lot of people who served in the military for a long time at high positions oppose this war too. You clearly have different sources than I know - or are you just listening to the Trump Administration and believing whatever they say?

I really did think I was researching my opinions carefully before weighing in, looking at serious military sources, including people with long experience as high level officers. What am I missing? What are the critical things I should be reading but apparently missed?

Do you think the American government has a long track record of telling the truth when we are at war?

Will you answer any of my questions? Including the ones above?

I already shared. I watch interviews and listen to them talk.
I don’t read bias articles with their own slants

Valerie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 4:02 pm You should be thankful I don’t turn to you for perspectives on this.
That's exactly what you are doing, though, by reading posts on this thread written by Anabaptists.
Reading to see opinions and “turning to” for perspective that I might glean from are two different things altogether. I wouldn’t “turn to” military experts to explain “non-resistance” either but if they started a topic about Anabaptism on a military social media forum I would be interested on their attempts to understand it.

At this time I will not post in this topic. I’m too easily misunderstood and instead labeled names that I only hear “here” it was never my intention to insult- again I wouldn’t expect an a Baptist that are non-resistance to spend a lot of time trying to analyze a war situation accurately. Certainly had nothing to do with me joining this forum.

Apologies

Why would there be interest in a war?
Because of our nonresistance being a key difference between us and other church groups, war has affected our people in unique ways that it doesn’t affect others. And war has a way of making us very unpopular to say the least, and it should come as no surprise to you that for us, the main threat come to us from patriotic Protestants (such as yourself), and not from Iranians. The Iranians don’t imprison us for not joining the US military. The Iranians don’t shoot our church buildings, the patriotic neighbors did.
We are a third way, which makes us hated and a target by both sides.
In time of war, my neighbors (who aren’t in the military) suffer no community harm, since the whole nation rallies behind the military. We are viewed are cowards, or with suspicion as traitors.

Our war experience is not like yours.

For an interesting perspective, I like "What's Going on With Shipping" on YT

I mean...even many people IN THE MILITARY oppose it. I'm not sure why some people are still cheering for it.
