I'll give up one of my third cousins, one who 'scored' in both categories, having been both famous, and also wicked (as in repeatedly adulterous): Johnny Deutschendorf, AKA 'John Denver'. (I don't have any other relative who were famous.)
How lenient should we be to lies?

I've been meaning to come back and connect these two posts for a while.ohio jones wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 8:29 amSurely you didn't let your students choose their own reading, did you? What literature did you assign?
Don't they say the universe is expanding? He's trying to keep up.

Rather amusingly, he’s also 6th cousins to my father in law. Admittedly it is difficult to find any Russian Mennonites farther apart than 7th cousins (my father in law is 7th to Neto, for example).mike wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2026 11:35 amWow NetoNeto wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2026 9:29 pmApparently yes. Re: How lenient should we be to lies?
I just find it interesting that someone can teach history and literature for 20 years, or teach science in college, and later in life join a discussion forum and have no interest in discussing history, literature, or science. And not catch my bad puns that attribute literary works to the wrong author. I guess interests and personalities expand and morph over time, perhaps exacerbated by geriatric memory loss. At least that's the generous explanation.eccentric_rambler wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 3:38 pm Don't they say the universe is expanding? He's trying to keep up.

I'm still trying to comprehend this post, if you care to explain. Is there a way for users to see IP info, or am I missing something obvious?ohio jones wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 6:03 pm I just find it interesting that someone can teach history and literature for 20 years, or teach science in college, and later in life join a discussion forum and have no interest in discussing history, literature, or science. Nope I’m not this MaxPc person. Like I said before y’all say the weirdest things. I don’t know what all is the background and I don’t really want to know. I’m just getting input from y’all on topics I’m seeing pop up in social media.

There are ways to extract this information. To understand how, consider what happens when a reader of this forum listens to the music.eccentric_rambler wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 7:30 pm I'm still trying to comprehend this post, if you care to explain. Re: How lenient should we be to lies?
I've seen old MaxPC posts and recent JohnL posts, they type and act so differently it has to be different people. Maybe it's the same person but they are putting on such a convincing act it might as well be a different person

Wife: A few of the jokes are actually the exact same ones. That said, he has a lot of things of value to share and starts interesting topics at times. It’s a bit distracting because of the deception, although I don’t know that it’s for nefarious purposes.

I’m about 70% sure that Max PC and John L are the same person. I have no idea what the purpose would be of all the fiction, but I agree with you that it seems kind of harmless other than the fact that it makes anything they have written pretty much non-serious. Why someone would waste their time like this, I have no idea.

Wife: yeah I can’t say with 100% certainty. Just that they seem very similar and have similar posting interests and behaviors. I miss the pearl comics though.mike wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 10:56 pmI’m about 70% sure that Max PC and John L are the same person.
