What does it tell us?

And are you sure this doesn’t belong in “Politics”?
Is Donald Trump declaring himself divine a political question or a theological one?
It's trolling, in bad taste.
Yes it is and he posted it right after attacking the Pope for criticizing him.

It’s trolling, but my hunch is that the kind of trolling someone engages in reveals something about their worldview and self-understanding.

He has been told by many, &!Ive heard some of them, say that they believe God has raised him up to lead this country for such a time as this.

Reminder- he said during his inaugural speech that America needs to return to God. Granted if he uses our military as Commander in Chief to who help prevent more deaths by those who have that as their intent, you will never see Anabaptists agreeing with that.

Trump certainly isn’t the artist but the artist seems to convey God is using him in many ways and Trump seems to take those thoughts to heart and use them in his “job” he was voted to do.

That isn't the message I get. It doesn't look like God is using him...it seems like he is cosplaying the Christ, the Savior, the Healer. The imagery of the praying hands, being elevated above and reverently looked up to, the birds (eagle in place of a dove - interestingly) above his head, the Angels (replaced by, of course, American militia) heralding the Healer's arrival. The Golden Orb of magical power in his hands...

I actually considered putting it in the General Theology category. It is a theological statement...whether or not it is is meant as trolling is beside the point.

I think what you’re arguing is theologically dangerous. I think once we say that a political leader was “raised up by God,” you run the risk of turning them into an idol and someone whose actions are beyond critique because they carry God’s authority.

That’s not a healthy stance for Christian faith.

There's some Australian guy (not even American) called Nick Adams who has an Instagram where he appears to make images like this. Most of his posts are just selfies of himself or other self-congratulatory kind of content, but he has some celebrating Easter, and then a handful celebrating Donald Trump with a caption that shows his intent:

https://www.instagram.com/nickaone/

He generally takes a view that Presidents are "spiritual fathers" of the American people, with images lionising Abraham Lincoln, MLK Jr., and Trump as some kind of great spiritual leader for the country. (The inclusion of MLK Jr. is interesting, since I think this is a common view throughout America that he is some kind of spiritual father to Americans.) He has imagery invoking Trump as some kind of King Arthur, along with an images showing an illuminated Trump, or of him as a type of Moses leading his people through the Red Sea, which is more of the theme of him as a spiritual father. To wit:

The original caption on the image posted to this thread was that Trump is "healing this nation", and I see it, again, as him viewing Trump as some kind of spiritual leader like MLK Jr., except this time in the role of the "faith preacher" who goes around doing healing miracles, which is a popular conception of pastors in charismatic and Pentecostal America.

So these images are really showing that the artist (if we can call someone who presses a few buttons on Midjourney an "artist", but from what I gather, AI-generated art is quite popular with a few people here on MennoNet) views Trump as some kind of spiritual leader or spiritual father, just like the Pope, the King of England, or local town pastor giving an altar call for people to come down to the front and have their ailments prayed for.

Instead of dialling the rage machine up to 11, it's sometimes good to do a bit of background research and find out what something actually is.

Wife: I’m going to try to get into this without being political. it makes me think about what happened to Nebuchadnezzar at the height of his empire, and how God gave him seven years of insanity and humiliation to bring him to his knees. Then he returned, and was given back his kingdom, and ruled in humility, as far as we can tell.

Our current president is a human (they all are so far, by the way), with a bunch of human faults, and we should be praying for him. I don’t see any appropriate reason for him to have posted this picture on truth social, but I think we need to remember that the verse about praying for those in authority includes those we don’t like, because God desires all men to repent.

well said.
for myself, i don’t view TS, X, Twitter, etc. Pretty much whatever members bring to MN.

looking at the OP, i failed to see Jesus depicted, i saw a man in robes, no words were included .. leaving it up to personal interpretation. i see LOTS of accusations+criticisms! THE DAILY SCREAM continues ..

T has the privilege of being found deadly-guilty until proven innocent .. not-deadly guilty. as pelosi might misquote.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Both in context and out of context, the imagery is of some kind of spiritual leader healing people, which is, whether I like it or not, a quite common thing that pastors claim to do in America. (Another one of the images has him in a Benny Hinn-style white suit handing out Bibles.)

There is no reason to think this picture is portraying him as some kind of deity. It does portray him as some kind of Pentecostal preacher, but wearing archaic clothing, but the picture of him as King Arthur likewise portrays him in mediaeval attire.

Trump often reposts images or videos created by his fans, which these days is mostly AI slop.

If you think this portrays Trump as a deity, this mostly says something about you and where Trump is living in your head, rent-free. My advice is to find something else to think about.
