Cuban regime collapsing
Re: Cuban regime collapsing
I don't like what the US is doing, it has nothing to do with humanity and all to do with control of a strategic area. That being said, the US doesn't do well helping other countries out of poverty.

No, it's not. But if you were to tell other people they are not allowed to do business with those places, or else you will stop doing business with them or will begin to charge them extra (tariffs) for all business they do with you, that would be coercion. That's what the US is doing.JohnH wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2026 3:44 pmI choose not to do business with liquor stores, strip clubs, and firearm dealers who promote military styled weapons. Is this a form of “coercion”?
The US doesn’t let us do business with Russia either. Is that “coercion”? The US wants to limit how much money and supplies Russia can get from American businesses due to their never ending war against Ukraine. I think that’s reasonable.

Viewing the world through a Manichaean lens, while fun and facile, is rarely ever accurate.

Maybe Cuba will have to be the next state since Greenland and Canada are playing hard to get

As long as it is approved by fair election in Cuba, I would be pleased.

Strangely, Cuba is allowing FBI agents to enter the country to assist with a specific investigation.

Using words like "nothing", "all", and making sweeping statements like "the U.S. doesn't do well helping other countries out of poverty." is a a very black and white/good and evil (Manichaean) way of looking at issues. Such statements elide a lot of nuance and a lot of history that may run counter to your claims. I don't like war any more than the next Mennonite, but when we speak of such things I think it's helpful to be a little more measured and little less bombastic.Soloist wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2026 8:02 pmFor the less educated, can you explain what you mean?HondurasKeiser wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2026 4:10 pmViewing the world through a Manichaean lens, while fun and facile, is rarely ever accurate.
