Did you move or delete?
I’m the one that started the thread and should’ve put it in politics to begin with. I forgot about doing that and just started it in other. The first Civil War was political and I believe the one we’re in right now is political.

Nothing deleted, just moved. I can move the entire thread if you want, but you started with a historical event and the first few pages stayed mostly clear of politics, so we could let those not in Politics continue that discussion if they can stay on topic.

Whatever you think is best OJ- someone else had asked why it wasn’t in politics if I remember right- but was t the first civil war political? I guess that & considering whether have such unrest now is basically political maybe that’s where it belongs. Whatever seems right to you.

I mean, it would seem political threads could just go in the Politics forum. I'm not sure why this is so hard to do, but I've kind of just accepted that every subforum gets flooded with political discussion.

i’d like to see a “Politics: Civil War-again?” topic. (similar to Bunny Trails’ Politics cousin.)
It fits in History, and keeps it accessible to others. [A suggestion!] :)

Sometimes there are layers of discussion.

Taking sides is what leads to civil war. Followers of Jesus are on the same side, even when they disagree.
Challenging point to keep in mind. I would add that followers of Jesus can also criticize all killings/wars/torture etc, no matter whom is doing it and regardless of what 'side' the perpetrators self-identify as or categorized as... a follower of Jesus can condemn both the Pretti and Charlie Kirk killing, equally... they can condemn abortion and murder after birth equally... it actually leans towards simple...
It's partisan loyalties (and misinfo/disinfo) that gum things up and enslave people to all kinds of arduous moral/ethical gymnastics as they try to stay 'loyal' to their side by defending, down-playing, justifying, deflecting...

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller

You mean, like, shooting people is tragic, no matter which people I like and hate? And even law enforcement and ICE need to be accountable if they do that without good cause?

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.
