I have been after the local supplier for over a year to get a class organized. I found I could do it online for $10 if I could do it in the three days the website gives a free trial. After that, I would have to subscribe for $10 a month to complete it.

Well, I figured I could just power through and get it done in a couple of days and save $10. First day I spent almost 6 hours going through the course. I felt pretty good and figured one more day like that and I would be done. When I finished up the first day, I looked at my progression. I was at 14%! Second day I did 4 more hours and got to 30%. I was bummed. Seems like this is going to take a while. Government stuff. I had to start with "This is an atom." Lot of stuff I already know but have to check the boxes. I have to take a 2 hour proctored test when I am done with the course too. I HAVE to use my phone with the front camera running so they can verify that I was there present taking the test. 2 hours staring at that little screen will kill my eyes, but now I have a whole month to get it all done. When I am done with that I have to start some well and waste water certifications after that. I guess my plans of retirement are totally gone.
Didn’t know it was that easy… I’ll have to look into doing that.

Septic here is just a written test.

Passed my EPA 608 Certification this weekend. Glad to have that behind me. It is a HVAC certification one needs to service refrigerated systems.

Congratulations! That's a very useful certification I hear. All those homes built in the 1980s and 90s building boom have aging HVACs that need repairs and replacing. How long does the usual HVAC system last?

Today ..
i’m trying not to be super super sad about “this” Thanksgiving, and “this” grdaughter’s birthday missed.
i am.

i’ve missed so many, consoling myself that i’ve had lots of time with them. i have. i’ve loved all those days.
not so many “special” days, but, lots of days.

i always said, if i had to choose “special” days versus “everydays”, i’d choose everydays.
this year i wanted these special days. it seemed well within reach! :D

the gov shutdown, quickly followed with a hard flu.

like many, during the pandemic, i didn’t visit for 2 YEARS. that’s too long. that was painful.
i’m past a year now. hopefully, not too much longer.

Done. :D
It was busy driving everywhere, but by some strange circumstance, i got GREAT parking spaces everywhere.
Busy in stores. Did that really happen? :?

Temps in the 50’s, so no great thing, wet+gloomy, no great thing. Winds 12SW, reasonable.
Still, great parking spaces just appeared out of nowhere! It doesn’t seem right. :?

Eerie.

Today ..
At peace following a widespread multi-state winter storm. The furnace and power stayed on.
i’m doing laundry and inside chores.

Forbes / Post-Thanksgiving Winter Storm Snarls Travel—Over 4,000 Flights Delayed / 2+min

(Black) Friday was mild, sunny, not windy, NO indicators a storm was approaching. A gorgeous fall day.
i got to meet with traveling family, they planned to travel north Saturday - i URGED them to not delay, to leave Friday -
thankfully they did.

They had a good trip home with a couple of car problems, even better they didn’t delay to Saturday.

In addition to airport delays, a big INDIANA highway mess Saturday.
Across all states, i’ll guess thousands of unreported fender benders.

Everyone has to relearn winter driving. Every year.

We had about 9" of snow here in Tiskilwa. Willow Springs Mennonite Church just met by Zoom.

I didn't have to go anywhere, but enjoyed getting outside and shoveling our driveway. Good exercise in the cold makes the body feel good.
