He used up his allotment of janitorial services.

To me, permanent seems over the top. Largely because my perception is that his liberal politics are as much the deciding factor as anything else. My perception is that if he behaved identical but held conservative politics, he wouldn’t get in so much trouble. We have others here who are, in my opinion, less polite, more derailing, and equally as biased.

I’m no fan of liberal politics whatsoever. But nor am I a fan of MAGA’s stunts. And I think both sides nonsense needs called out and challenged.

What I appreciate about Ken was not that he promoted liberal politics, but that he was able to identify the nonsense on the right. I think that has utility.
Grace comes to my mind as one who serves a similar purpose on the other side, identifying the lies that the left likes to spread.

So no, I’ve not seen anything posted publicly here, that would in my opinion make him an outlier that would merit permanent expulsion.

He was given open warnings, none of which suggested his liberal politics were a factor. Additionally, he occasionally received direct encouragement from mods, which is fairly unusual. i believe forum mods are mixed in views, equal in mutual respect, even when not in agreement on every point. This makes for a good balance. imho :)

Personally, i miss the few banned members, even the most difficult. However, no one is banned without warning, guidance, options. i think it’s as fair as possible. i’m glad it’s not my responsibility. i’d be terrible at it!

i don’t expect everything to be aired on open forum. There can be more to the story.

- - - - - - -

It’s kinda funny.
i don’t think of MN as strictly or even strongly conservative. The mix in admin+mods reflects it, in my view.
It’s a rare place where conservative views and questions are allowed. That’s different from the world. Starkly different.

When i first registered on MD, 100 years ago, i was holding my breath, waiting for it to be closed, or over run.
Possibly there have been some close calls? On rare occasion, Robert has described certain proposed legislation that might have forced closure. (Maybe before Elon bought Twitter?) .. i’m not sure. Probably more goes on that most are aware.

Eventually, i thought, the “plain” nature of this forum is a built-in protection?
In the past, i visited a number of church FB pages, websites, etc. - more liberal groups have TOTAL access to everything, all the internet bells+whistles.

This forum remains a corner for readers and writers. Not left or right, it’s too boring for many. Not everyone goes to libraries.
Lots of people have no interest in reading or writing. i found out decades ago. :-|

my car goes in to replace tie rods. i’m looking forward to it.

i’ve had a bothersome clunking in the front end that’s worried me.
more work is needed, but i think it can wait until after the new year. “not urgent”

Today ..
Replacing GARAGE DOOR SEAL. Original in 2007, i think.
Hopefully, it will keep moles, voles, mice, crickets, June bugs out. i’ve kept glue traps there.

Also, of course, the weather seal factor. i sometimes get snow blowing in at one end.

Also, the neighborhood guys will flush out the water lines (well water).
And, a trip “into town” to run errands.

NOPE. :-|

Hormann garage door, they don’t make that seal anymore. https://www.hormann.us/residential/
The repair guy is looking into alternatives, he encouraged me to look, too.
i’m looking.

The low-use door is like new. i’ve been very happy with it.

i found a dealer about 100 miles away. He didn’t have great ideas.
He suggested replacing the lower panel, which would have the new seal. Not a bad idea. If the color matched.

A $200 job becomes $300-400. $1300 min to replace. It’s too good to replace!

i’m even looking for the seal on ebay.
i need a part number.

Note to self:
When buying a garage door, buy an extra seal.

Amazon has a lot of universal seals. Even if you just had to replace the runner the seal seats in and add a new seal. I assume it is the bottom seal.

We have been needing 608 Certification at work. It is an EPA certification that allows us to add or remove refrigerant from AC units. I have been after the local supplier for over a year to get a class organized. I found I could do it online for $10 if I could do it in the three days the website gives a free trial. After that, I would have to subscribe for $10 a month to complete it.

Well, I figured I could just power through and get it done in a couple of days and save $10. First day I spent almost 6 hours going through the course. I felt pretty good and figured one more day like that and I would be done. When I finished up the first day, I looked at my progression. I was at 14%! Second day I did 4 more hours and got to 30%. I was bummed. Seems like this is going to take a while. Government stuff. I had to start with "This is an atom." Lot of stuff I already know but have to check the boxes. I have to take a 2 hour proctored test when I am done with the course too. I HAVE to use my phone with the front camera running so they can verify that I was there present taking the test. 2 hours staring at that little screen will kill my eyes, but now I have a whole month to get it all done. When I am done with that I have to start some well and waste water certifications after that. I guess my plans of retirement are totally gone.

(i would guess) once complete, your employer would pay for the certification? - and, bump up your pay for being certified?

Thanks!
From what the repairman showed me, i think the plate (seat?) will have to be replaced, then the seal attaches (slides in).
This one might work!
