That's very unusual, and I can't really recall any successful attempts. Do you have a specific example in mind?

If you'd like, we could close it on Sundays, like Chick-Fil-A. Or maybe Saturdays, does it matter?
As the OP I have closed it. Others have closed their threads and not had sarcasm leveled at them. This is not appropriate Christian communication. Enough is enough.

AS THE OP, THIS PARTICULAR THREAD IS CLOSED. If the topic is still interesting, others can feel free to start their own.
Whether or not your post constitutes appropriate Christian communication, it certainly seems to be a lot like "arguing with the mods" which might be prohibited by the forum rules.

JohnL, were you given moderator status?
Closed = locked. Only mods can lock a thread.
You are welcome to ask to have your thread closed, but you cannot close it yourself. And until it is locked by a moderator, your thread is still open. And FWIW, this moderator will not be closing this thread.

Just bc you no longer want to participate in this thread does not mean it needs to be locked.

This reminds me of back in the days of MaxPC when he would attempt to close threads.

Is it appropriate for the Ohio Jones to mock forum participants? I do not see Robert doing that. Robert shows care and respect. He has to come down at times on stubbornness but he does not mock people and I respect Robert for that.

No. I'm pretty much done with this for now. Whether it's a bias against Baptists or something else I have too much to get ready for before Christmas. I hope Ohio Jones learns that mocking people is no way to bring encouragement to Christian community. I wish you well, Ken_Sylvania. I see you as another person who shows respect and good communication skills. God bless you.

This reminds me of back when MaxPC would claim there was animus against Catholics.

Yes, I think John’s post distracts from a legitimately Christian discussion of our loyalties by taking political offense and insisting that we pass some kind of political neutrality test.
And yet he explained what he was challenging and you agreed with him. Yet here you seem to be assuming that he was politically offended and was pushing some kind of political neutrality test. So who exactly is making this about politics?
Currently, you.

Your questions keep turning away from Christian discussion of our loyalties. They turn it into some kind of fight. Along clearly political lines. So could you please stop? I would like the thread to be able to discuss what the thread is actually about.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Sometimes I get the impression that you think you are the only person authorized to point out political bias on this forum. You act like you have the right to criticize JohnH for mentioning political bias, but as soon as anyone points out your own political comments you accuse them of creating a distraction. And now, when someone points out your hypocrisy, you accuse them of the same thing. It's classic gaslighting, and I wish you would stop it.
