Demographic shifts, also, are nothing to be scared of. Things change.

Infesting? You aren't from the US, you count as an immigrant. Are you "infesting" the country? Weren't you here illegally at one point? Do you get Medicaid and other benefits?
Why shouldn't we apply everything you say about other immigrants to you?
And why do you use the same language Hitler used to refer to Jews? Isn't that clearly hate-mongering? This is not a Kingdom of God approach to anything.
The guy was an illegal inmigrant calling other illegal inmigrants an infestation ? ohh the irony
Is there a reason you are choosing to expose my real name on this forum?

I'm sure the Native Americans from the 17th and 18th century would be delighted to know that they were just being "shifted" rather than being "eliminated" and "replaced."barnhart wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:10 pmHondurasKeiser wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:59 pm I would go out on a limb and make the claim that it’s a morally neutral term. As an idea, The Great Replacement is the provenance of Renaud Camus, hardly a man of the Right. I won't join you on that limb. The morally neutral term is demographic shift.
Go ahead. Tell the old timers in the historic neighborhoods of that they should embrace "demographic shift" instead of complaining about how they have been displaced. See what they have to say about that.
See, what's interesting is, when rich white people come in and buy up property in the historic black neighborhoods, it's considered acceptable to call it gentrification and displacement. But when the Italians or the Guatemalans move in to a neighborhood until it becomes majority Italian or majority Spanish instead of majority English, we're supposed to call it "demographic shift" instead of "displacement."

“Things change” is a bit of a stretch. Would you agree that European settlers taking over North America was just “things changing”? “Nothing to be scared of” for the inhabitants who were already here?joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:29 pm Demographic shifts, also, are nothing to be scared of. The demographics weren't the problem. The violent imperialism was.JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:31 pm“Things change” is a bit of a stretch. That’s fine. I can hang out there by myself. I’m curious with where you disagree with Camus’ analysis.barnhart wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:10 pmHondurasKeiser wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:59 pm I would go out on a limb and make the claim that it’s a morally neutral term. I think there’s a real shame in the “demographic shift” in North America irrespective of what caused it.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:41 pmThe demographics weren't the problem. That's right. Demographic shifts are nothing to be scared of. If your neighborhood becomes Kensington Ave with homeless fentanyl addicts camping on your doorstep and in your backyard, that's nothing to be scared of. If it becomes South Shore, Chicago with rampant robbery, assault and gun violence, that's nothing to be scared of. In fact, if the demographic shifts away from hard-working Hispanics and shifts toward gangs of skinheads - that's nothing to be scared of at all. Things change, you know.joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:29 pm Demographic shifts, also, are nothing to be scared of. Things change.
The only exception is if you live in Mexico or Venezuela or some such country and the demographics in your neighborhood change so that you no longer feel safe. Then you should be scared for your life and flee to the USA.
As someone hinted earlier, the Native Americans were fools to have been scared of the demographic shifts that occurred when the Europeans started crossing the Atlantic.

I want to acknowledge that I forgot your prior request in the moment when I clarified the post’s origin for Thomas, and I apologize for that.JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:30 pmI’ve asked you before not to use my real name on this forum, and you said you’d agree not to do so.Szdfan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:21 pmJosh is John’s previous username.Thomas_muntzer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 7:57 pm

That being said, I also want to be very clear -- I don’t believe I’m revealing any private information. "Josh" was your public username that you used on this forum for over a decade as one of its most prolific posters. The first post on this thread is by you under your old username. In that sense, I'm not revealing your real name, I'm using the username you chose and posted under thousands of posts on this forum.
I don't think its reasonable to expect that the rest of the forum has to pretend that your previous posts don't exist, especially since you continue to post the same type of arguments, patterns and framing. This isn't about personal information. It's about the continuity of your public participation on this public forum.
I also think the confusion in thread demonstrates why it's fair to clarify this. Bootstrap referred to one of your posts under your old username. Thomas Muentzer thought it referred to someone who's no longer here. Except that's not true. You are still here. You are participating in this thread. I think clarifying this is appropriate.
Of course you can change your username, but that doesn't obligate the rest of us here to pretend your past here doesn't exist and to erase your public participation here. It's also about honesty, clarity, consistency and the history of this forum.
