Could you please define what you mean by politics here? When you split the thread, you did not include any of my posts, but I don't think any of my posts mentioned government or government policy, they were all focused on what Jesus said, with scripture. Would it be better to simply move the political posts out of the first topic? And perhaps also the ones where people exchange opinions of each other?

I would like a thread that avoids politics and avoids discussing each other. I'm now confused about which thread to participate in.
Seriously? You complain fairly frequently about other people derailing threads, and about people dragging politics into every discussion. But somehow it's OK for you to try to turn Josh's attempt at a politics-free thread into an argument about what "politics" means?

I feel sorry for you in your confusion but I don't think that's a good excuse.

No, it would not be OK for me to try to turn that thread into an argument about what politics means. And that's not what I was trying to do. Perhaps you are being a little quick to assume evil intent?

If you look at my posts in the original thread, I don't think they were political. I'm hoping the original thread does not get abandoned or turned into a political one. There are a lot of substantive posts there.

Nope, just calling balls and strikes. Josh started a new thread because he didn't like the political posts in the other one and instead of adding any thoughts about the topic you jump in with a question about the definition of political and a complaint about how he hadn't copied the non-political posts over from the other thread.
If anybody had done that in one of your threads I don't see you liking it.

Nobody said your posts in the original thread were political.

I can see that it was probably not an effective way to do what I was trying to do. I have copied a few of my posts from the old thread to the new thread. I'd like to see some of the other non-political posts there too.

To me, the phrase "But somehow it's OK for you to try to" really does imply that I was trying to inject politics into the thread. It says that was my intent. And it clearly was not. That's what I meant by "a little quick to assume evil intent". That's not just calling balls and strikes. That's claiming I was trying to bean the batter.

OK whatever. I'll just say I think the post was in bad taste considering how often you criticize other people for wandering off-topic in threads and how you made it as a response to the OP which very clearly stated a desire for a focused thread.

Boot, my request was not aimed at you and I don’t think you tried to start political discussion in the other thread.

I do wish every thread I try to start didn’t turn into a (worthless, in my opinion) meta-discussion.

The original thread is already poisoned by political discussion. The first reply brought up municipal zoning and government policy regarding cars and transportation.

My next thread will contain an additional request to please not debate what “politics” means in the thread. Perhaps I will start a third attempt to do just that.

Oh, feel free to delete or move my offending post from your second thread.

I can’t move posts or threads. All I can do is make a request.

I’d like us to have more Anabaptist oriented discussion and less of, well, whatever the opposite of that is.

Plain Catholics don’t have anything formal. Last I heard, they travel the country in RV’s and need alternatives for their training.

Thanks to Amtrak, Amish do more training than PCs do.
