I am not saying you are wrong, but he did have the board resign already. And the why is the primary disagreement.jahertz wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:22 pm
As far as I can learn, no Sattler student so far has been required to submit his or her church choice for Finny's approval, and I am fairly sure that were anyone to attempt a policy of blacklisting churches Finny doesn't like, the board members personally known to me would immediately resign.

To be clear, are you claiming Dean Taylor possesses evidence showing 1. That Finny Kuruvilla opposes the existence of any conservative Mennonite church in Boston on principle and 2. That Finny has the power to prevent Mennonites from establishing such a church independently of his college?

Re: Sattler College Turmoil
No I am claiming that there was a group willing to plant a church there if Finny didn’t stand against it.jahertz wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:34 pmTo be clear, are you claiming Dean Taylor possesses evidence showing 1. I don’t know the specifics and Dean might not be willing to give you proof.

I dont have a problem with people switching churches. I have a problem with churches targeting other churches with the intention of changing their minds to join their church or trying to shake up other churches they deem wrong. I think there are things we can learn from each other while also respectfully standing our ground where needed...without resorting to pointing fingers at each others flaws.Soloist wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 4:14 pmIt’s not actually stealing believers if the church isn’t actually a church.Nomad wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 3:53 pm Its an interesting concept...Christians trying to convert/ indoctrinate other Christians. I actually, wouldn't mind if Anabaptist toned down some of the rhetoric against Evangelicals and others. Probably, one area where I would respect the Sattler cause is that they seem more open to working with Christians from different backgrounds.
All I’ve seen done is calling people to follow what’s the Scriptures teach.
I was one of these sheep. I guess I stole myself. I for one speak of it as the time I actually started believing what Jesus said.

Re: Sattler College Turmoil
I don’t think they are ALL intentionally recruiting Catholics. But, yes, I suppose its possible some are...I don't know how all the protestants mission statements of faith read. But I'm not going to place all of them in the same box. I would say we don't have to borrow the tactics of those specific evangelicals and protestants you are referring to then.Ken wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 4:22 pmThat would be just about every single evangelical and protestant mission in Latin America then, including the Anabaptist ones. Since virtually all of them are recruiting Catholics.Nomad wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 3:53 pmIts an interesting concept...Christians trying to convert/ indoctrinate other Christians. Re: Sattler College Turmoil
This is all very interesting, and I mostly agree, but it's way off-topic from the problems of Sattler, which to my knowledge has never positioned or understood itself as a recruitment program to woo Christian students into a particular church group.Nomad wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:41 pmI dont have a problem with people switching churches. Re: Sattler College Turmoil
It’s actually very on point, but I’m not at liberty to explain.
I just re-looked at my messages, apparently it’s not entirely accurate… I can share it. I don’t think the permission was to post it on public forums though.
There is a Google Drive that contains great deal of information on this… most of it isn’t proof so to speak, there is recordings of a meeting between Finny, David and other board members.
I believe Dean’s resignation letter is in there which also somewhat explains.
Feel free to ask someone for it I’m not going to pass it on.
