I remember his speech which i watched. He let the governor of each state have their guidelines. That is why people in Ohio tuned in on a daily basis to what our governor was saying.
Which honestly made no sense to me. COVID behaves the same whether you are in Washington or Ohio. The Federal Government is supposed to be the expert in these things. That is why we have the CDC. Different might have their own public health departments but they do not have the expertise and resources of the CDC.
One of the biggest problems with the COVID response in education was the total lack of guidelines from the national level. Which mostly left it up to individual school boards to try to sort out with little resources and frankly no expertise at all. And so we had endless pitched battles in thousands of local school boards across the country.
I was paying close attention because I do follow both politics and education. And Trump's Department of Education was completely AWOL during this entire time period. During that time period Nancy DeVos was instead busy futzing around with sexual harassment standard for colleges and universities. You could go to the DOE web site during that time and search in vain for any sort of pandemic guidance for K-12 schools and would not find it. I know because I tried. The CDC had some general guidance but it wasn't particularly detailed. So yes, schools were left pretty much to their own devices and that wasn't a good thing. Various states did step in with their own rules and guidelines. But again, states aren't the real experts when it comes to pandemic management and there is no reason why schools in Georgia are any different from schools in Oregon when it comes to infectious disease management.
And I will also say that things did not really improve under Biden in 2021. Schools did start to re-open and move on to things like hybrid schedules. But there still was very little guidance at the Federal level for what to do and what not to do. So we were still back to things like endless fights over masking and vaccination and testing at the local school board level. Which was not productive.

This is scientifically not true. Rural population densities and more people outdoors affects the Covid transmission a lot. More sun in southern states will increase UV which kills virii. There are a lot of local environmental impact on virus transmission.

Every state has rural and urban areas. And we saw COVID surges in both summer and winter in both the north and south.
In fact, COVID spread more rapidly in some rural areas despite much lower population density because of choke points. For example, if you have a very low density rural county but there is just one grocery store in the county where every household shops, gets their mail, etc. then one infected clerk at that store can quickly spread the disease to everyone in the county. Whereas in a large urban area, one infected individual will affect a much smaller portion of the population. But either way, the chances of COVID spreading from a store clerk to a customer are the same whether that store is in an urban or rural area. And the chances of COVID spreading from teacher to student or vice versa are the same whether that classroom is in a rural or urban area, and whether it is in the north or south.

Amount of sun affects Vitamin D in the system. Vitamin D is a deterrent of Covid. Northern states get less sun and more winter where people are inside.
Many local environmental conditions affect viral spread. Humidity, UV, temperature, and exposure. Covid is airborne, but other virii are not. All virii outside on a hot dry day with the sun shining dies quickly.
All this has been known for many years. Not sure why it would be controversial. This is well known science fact. Washington has much different needs than Arizona. State medical advisors are educated enough to be as wise, if not wiser, that appointed CDC staff.

I think that as all people were saying this is the first time we were hit with something like this, with what had just happened in Italy before our shutdown I think Republicans can give him Grace on making the decision. And then he left it up to each state to handle it the way they saw fit which we recognize as wise.
Republicans that still support him still believe he was doing an extremely good job as president overall and not basing their support based on covid-19 and they also would contend that the Democrats would have made it a much worse situation with their narrative again it's about choices between the two
You are making a very good case for why I choose not to be involved in the political process. To be involved in the political process of earthly kingdoms, which is full of hypocrisy on all sides, IMO, is not compatible with the NT Kingdom of Jesus.
In "our" country our king so to speak is chosen by "We the people", you follow your convictions, we all should, my conviction is to not allow only the ungodly choose our leader and choose laws that will affect all of us. I too, must be true to my convictions about it as. a Christian who cares what affects all people, including the unborn. Its an imperfect system run by imperfect people but it is what we have
BTW, in November there is an amendment to the Constitution proposed that will allow abortion in Ohio up until birth. Could I in my right mind and the guys of being concerned about hypocrisy allow only the ungodly to vote on that issue, and if so what would be the obvious outcome?
No law in Ohio is going to stop an ungodly person from getting an abortion if they want it bad enough. Perhaps one reason abortion has gotten so out of hand in America is because the church has long ago stopped functioning in the way God intended for it to.

All that sun didn't seem to help Arizona do better than Washington.
Washington had a COVID death rate of 209 per 100,000 and a vaccination rate of 75%
Arizona had a COVID death rate of 456 per 100,000 and a vaccination rate of 64%.
What specific pandemic measures do you think were appropriate in Washington but not Arizona, or vice versa?

County by county may reveal more and average age. One of the big factors in Covid deaths is age, same as cancer.
This does make my case that Covid acted differently state by state.

I would suggest that the main reason is not that COVID behaved differently in different states. But that PEOPLE and governments behaved differently in different states. One difference is vaccination rates. But that is far from the only difference when you compare states.
