Which statement do you think is untrue and unsupported by the data?
That Republicans and Democrats died of COVID at roughly the same rates prior to the introduction of the vaccines
That once the vaccines became available, Democrats had measurably higher vaccination rates than Republicans
That after the vaccines were available, Republicans had higher COVID death rates than Republicans.
If you disagree with the conclusions of the study then you must believe one of the above statements is false. Which one?
The Lancet had to remove some research that was found to be done poorly about Covid once. I would not claim they are the ultimate source.
I think your third bullet point was supposed to be "Republicans had higher COVID death rates than Republicans Democrats".
I think the Covid vaccine is helpful for someone in the high risk category. I think it is somewhat risky for someone in the low risk category. It takes 10 years to really find out if a vaccine is ultimately helpful. There can be long term issues that just take time to surface. I think we are seeing a few of them. I will not take another shot since I am not in the high risk category. I only had one several years ago.
I will count on a healthy lifestyle, daily vitamins, and a very strong immune system. Everyone can do the first two, the last, healthy immune system is my blessing, but not everyone else's. I think they should work with their doctor to determine if they should get it. Each person will have different needs.
A large part of the Democrat base, the African-Americans, had a very low vaccine rate. Many of them are in a higher risk category.
I did think it was quite telling that most Democrats were refusing the vaccine when Trump was developing it and ramming it through. As soon as a Democrat was president, they all the sudden demanded everyone had to take it.
BTW, stop the personal attacks and just state your opinions and understanding.
This study was published in JAMA not the Lancet. In any event, anyone can look up COVID death rates and COVID vaccination rates for any county in the country. And then link that information to voting results to see if there were partisan patterns in the COVID pandemic. That is easy enough to do and many people have done it and reported on it. That information is all public.
The only thing this recent study did was drill down to individuals in Florida and Ohio using voter registration records to see if those regional patterns were reflected on an individual level. So, for example, within a specific county in Florida or Ohio if there were partisan differences in vaccination rates and death rates at an individual level. It turns out that there were.
I do give Trump credit for Operation Light Speed and whatever his administration did to fund vaccine production and streamline the regulatory process. It is honestly a mystery to me how this became a partisan issue. Which it clearly did. I saw it within my own family.

And why Republicans, who have generally been quite critical of government's COVID response, continue supporting Trump, after the country was basically shut down for a while under his administration, is beyond me.

Both of the retracted COVID-19 papers, one in The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and the other in The Lancet, were based on what appeared to be a huge database of patient records compiled from hospitals worldwide by Surgisphere, a small company operated by vascular surgeon Sapan Desai, who was a co-author on each article.

Trump left it up to each state.
He appointed Pence to be in charge of Covid 19
He supported vaccines, he also was skeptical of the origin of Covid 19 & he also supported doctors who promoted hydroxychloroquine. He also discouraged the nation from living in fear, and he was not big on masks as being that effective.

The buck stops with the president and if one attempts to separate Trump from some of the decisions his administration made then the same type of thing needs to be afforded to all presidents, including Biden. I don't see Republicans giving Biden any slack for his administration's policies.
The shutdown happened under Trump's administration, which caused huge economic disruptions and the effects are still being felt today for many small businesses such as our restaurant.

I think that as all people were saying this is the first time we were hit with something like this, with what had just happened in Italy before our shutdown I think Republicans can give him Grace on making the decision. And then he left it up to each state to handle it the way they saw fit which we recognize as wise.
Republicans that still support him still believe he was doing an extremely good job as president overall and not basing their support based on covid-19 and they also would contend that the Democrats would have made it a much worse situation with their narrative again it's about choices between the two

You are making a very good case for why I choose not to be involved in the political process. To be involved in the political process of earthly kingdoms, which is full of hypocrisy on all sides, IMO, is not compatible with the NT Kingdom of Jesus.

In "our" country our king so to speak is chosen by "We the people", you follow your convictions, we all should, my conviction is to not allow only the ungodly choose our leader and choose laws that will affect all of us. I too, must be true to my convictions about it as. a Christian who cares what affects all people, including the unborn. Its an imperfect system run by imperfect people but it is what we have
BTW, in November there is an amendment to the Constitution proposed that will allow abortion in Ohio up until birth. Could I in my right mind and the guys of being concerned about hypocrisy allow only the ungodly to vote on that issue, and if so what would be the obvious outcome?

I remember his speech which i watched. He let the governor of each state have their guidelines. That is why people in Ohio tuned in on a daily basis to what our governor was saying.
