In other words, his change of heart had nothing to do with a rational examination of the scientific data.
Correct. He was trying to downplay the thread for political purposes and he changed his mind about minimizing the concern.
I would be impressed if he cared about this thread at all.
Good catch! "Threat", of course.

MaxPC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 2:14 am Per usual, Ken misinterprets, misconstrues and attacks others who hold a different view than his own sense of infallibility. Hence another round on the ban bench. Ken does not know how to respect other viewpoints and continues to malign those held by others by twisting narratives. These are not the actions of a civil individual. Dust shaken.
Although I wouldn't express it the same way, I had the same reaction as Ken. Why does "God is in control" seem to serve to dismiss environmental concerns, but not social? Please clarify if that's not what you are doing with the "God is in control" comment.
People can’t control the weather, but we can control actions like whether we chose to commit a crime or not.
Precisely and obviously. Well said, Josh. I am glad that logic and common sense is still practiced by some, as well as reading comprehension.

Which is a simplistic notion and beside the point. No one is claiming that people can CONTROL the weather. As in whether it will rain tomorrow or what the temperature will be next week. But humans are most certainly doing things that AFFECT the climate and by extension have an EFFECT on the weather.

For example, a few weeks ago Robert posted this tidbit. Did Robert post garbage science or do wind turbines actually affect local weather patterns? You tell me. I would suggest we can go around the globe and find endless examples of ways in which humans are affecting the climate and weather, many of which have nothing to do with CO2 emissions. And none of which involve CONTROLLING the weather.
Robert wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 1:58 pm https://cowboystatedaily.com/2023/05/05 ... are-built/
Several studies over two decades have found that wind turbines impact local meteorological conditions by raising temperatures at the surface level.

The impacts are different from the warming effect of carbon dioxide emissions from oil, gas and coal in that they only last while the wind turbines are in operation. However, driven by federal subsidies, wind farms are being built across Wyoming at a rapid pace.

As these spread across the Cowboy State, there’s a growing concern of the cumulative impacts all these projects will produce.

Anne Brande, executive director of the Albany County Conservancy, told Cowboy State Daily there are 13 wind projects planned around Laramie alone.

“I’m concerned about the impacts, as are the conservancy members. And no one is really taking a look at all this,” Brand said.

The Science

A 2004 study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that “large-scale use of wind power can alter local and global climate by extracting kinetic energy and altering turbulent transport in the atmospheric boundary layer.”

The authors of the study also state that large amounts of wind across the continent will produce a pronounced impact on climate, but that reducing carbon dioxide emissions produce a net benefit to the climate.

In a 2010 study, University of Illinois researcher Somnath Roy found that wind farms affect temperatures and humidity near the surface.

Roy warns that the “explosive growth” of future wind farms, which has occurred since the study was done, could impact agriculture. Roy was co-author on a 2013 study that found the same impacts.

“More and more wind farms are being constructed on agricultural land that is sensitive to changes in the microclimate,” the authors write.

Roy was also co-author on a 2015 study that found wind farms raise nighttime temperatures.

A 2011 Purdue study found increased temperatures at the surface as a result of wind farms, as did a 2016 study in Scotland.

A 2018 study in Joule estimated that generating the United States’ electricity demand with wind power would warm surface temperatures by 0.24 degrees celsius, which is nearly one-fourth of the amount of warming the globe has seen since 1800.

Here is a better statement: humans have no control nor influence over global weather (including global warming or cooling).

It may be possible to affect microclimates.

I'm not sure what makes it better. It is still obviously wrong.

Fine. I apologize.

How about this: Upon what scientific basis are you making this statement?

I would ask what basis we have for thinking humans can control global weather; there has yet to be any evidence of such happening (no changes in global temperatures that can’t be explained by simple factors like urban heat islands)

Most of the climate change industry makes predictions that big changes will happen in the future. Their past predictions have not come true. So I will start with the presumption that humans can’t control global weather conditions until I see evidence we can.

I think many of us would like to remind people that God is sovereign over the weather. I'm continually saying that to customers at work pretend to be grumblers and get them to be thankful, look for the good in the weather. Because it is God who is in control of the weather.

People hurt the environment-.

Global warming which has changed to Climate Change seems political, and agenda motivated and lacks recognition of weather patterns

I do believe God is allowing us to suffer the consequences of greed which if that has caused our environment to affect the climate then we are separating the consequences for that. He is still in control of the weather he does not take a back seat to this agenda
I would say God is in control also in the area of sin increasing in that He says where sin abounds grace abounds all the more. So, there is no need to be anxious about anything just as Philippians 4:6 tells us. It becomes a matter of experiencing the peace of God beyond our understanding. It's our choice.
Well i do see a difference in God being sovereign over our weather, and him giving free will to every human being.
Even though we have free will, we do not have to worry about sin abounding (getting worse) in the world anymore than worrying about the weather. According to Romans 5:20 we can be assured that - “For wherever sin exists in abundance and is multiplying and constantly expanding, that is precisely the time and place where grace is poured out in a far greater, surpassing quantity.” paraphrased. That is why I do not need be anxious over sin expanding in this world. However, if I don't believe this, I am likely to act defeated, fearful and and lose faith that God will still save as He always has. I don't see any reason for a believer to be anxious about current events although I am not completely free yet myself.

Climate change is one of many fears we don't need to live with as believers. Nor the expansion of sin. Nor politics, etc, etc. and that, to me, is how we are able to experience that peace of heart that goes beyond understanding. And as free will beings we can chose to obey and trust what God says to live in a peaceful state or not. Why would any believer chose to not live in a peaceful state of mind ? Isn't this due to worldly influences that we should be anxious about things or other Christian influences that seem to believe we can't be anxious free ?
