Europe is extremely concerned about this.
But fossil fuels are the main funding source for Russia in this war. They are between a rock and a hard place.
Europe is extremely concerned about this.
i’m glad Robert has warned about CNN, i avoid clicking on their reports.Brussels Belgium:
The missile that killed two people in Poland yesterday was likely an errant Ukrainian Air Defense Missile,
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg explained in an early-morning press-conference.
According to Stoltenberg, there is no call for an Article 4 meeting — as all allies agree there isn't any indication this was a deliberate attack on NATO territory or that Russia is planning offensive military actions against NATO allies.
Stoltenberg emphasized that Russia bears the ultimate responsibility for the incident since it's their war in Ukraine which caused it to happen.
As far as next steps go, Stoltenberg explained that NATO is mobilizing extra support for Ukraine. He said their top priority was to provide air-defense, which he said would be set up to defend against attacks around the clock. .. ..
.. .. Stoltenberg emphasized the important of calmly awaiting the outcome of investigations into incidents like this, saying Poland and NATO allies acted in a calm and rational way. He said it's important to react quickly, respond firmly, remain calm, and prevent unnecessary escalation.
Stoltenberg said he believes this war will end at the negotiation table, but that the outcome of negotiations depends on Ukraine's "strength on the battlefield." The best way to maximize the probability for a peaceful end to the war, he says, is to provide military support to Ukraine on the battlefield.
And in America, I’m quite concerned about maintaining our freedom of speech to criticise what is going on with America’s war efforts against Russia.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 1:45 pmYou wrote that to Ken. The two of you are disagreeing on the Internet, in the safety of your homes. I don't think gulags are involved. Some of your exchanges may be a waste of time, but you decide what you want to spend your time on.
Be glad you aren't in Russia. I was part of a church in East Germany that had dealings with the secret police, I share your concerns, and I hope we never have that here in America. But if it comes, we may find ourselves in the same gulags.
Russia will send you to jail for up to 15 years if you protest the war or report news that disagrees with their official propaganda about the war - they passed two laws on March 4th that say just that. Russian citizens may not call it a "war" or an "invasion".
There are lots of anti-war protests in Russia right now, and Russia is arresting people for participating in peaceful protests.
Russia has set up "filtration camps" and forcibly deported between 900,000 and 1.6 million Ukrainian citizens, including 260,000 children, from their homes to Russia – often to isolated regions in the Far East. They are deliberately separating Ukrainian children from their parents and abducting others from orphanages, then putting them up for adoption inside Russia.
They are bombing civilian areas of cities and hospitals and schools.
So ... if we don't want gulags, maybe making excuses for Russia is the wrong strategy?
Perhaps Western Europe should have kept their nuclear plants open and kept mining coal.
And yet you do it every day, with zero consequences. Does someone knock on your door and haul you away like they would in Russia? As long as I see your posts here, I'm pretty confident that hasn't happened.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 1:10 pmAnd in America, I’m quite concerned about maintaining our freedom of speech to criticise what is going on with America’s war efforts against Russia.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 1:45 pmYou wrote that to Ken. It is not my job to speak against America’s enemies like Russia and China.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 3:52 pmAnd yet you do it every day, with zero consequences. If that's your fear, why don't you speak out against the country that actually does these things?
America is currently a laughingstock amongst the world’s non aligned powers; China is not interested in allying with America anytime soon. For a more extreme example, Saudi Arabia won’t even take Biden’s phone calls, but MBS was recently spotted at a hotel in Russia having high level meetings about expanding BRICS and opec.
