Do you hold a position that false accusations never happen and an accusation alone should be enough to convict?
I wonder how often an accusation alone will be enough to convict someone. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any examples where that happened.
This is where good police work comes in. Get the suspect to admit to something and go from there.
Interestingly, a lot of the people proclaiming how important victims are and fighting abuse are… also want to defund the police.

Interesting.

Of course they do, but quit belaying relatively small details at the expense of the main points.

There was more than one victim though, correct? And they also had a recording of him admitting to some stuff?
You seem to be the expert on these things. Tell us.
I don't claim to be the expert. I emailed the article https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local ... 5fec1db3d3 to my son who sells for the same company as an Eastern minister. He called him and asked him about it and that is what he was told.

It is unfortunate that there have been (and possibly still are) cases where there have been sexual improprieties, assaults, and abuses. Some of these have been covered up. It is also unfortunate that the "me too" thinking is gaining traction and some innocent folks are being accused of things. IMO, any one of us could be accused (and found "guilty") if some disgruntled person would decide to bring charges. We would like to trust the court system, but I believe all of us have heard of innocent people spending years in prison based on false accusations.
So either Champ is a liar on top of being a serial abuser, or else he is being framed. Is there any information about what evidence was presented at the trial?

I suppose you'd have to have attended the trial, as they are public affairs and evidence there is presented. Usually these things aren't recorded, and some evidence and witnesses shown in the courtroom are not allowed to be recorded.

The trial transcripts as recorded by the court reporter are a public record. They may not be online. You may have to physically go to the court and request a paper copy. But anyone can get them if you are really interested.

Yes. That is standard and trial transcripts are considered public records unless they were sealed by court order for some reason as happens if the defendant was a minor. That normally doesn’t happen with adult defendants. It would only generally happen if there was confidential evidence of some sort presented in court, like trade secrets, or testimony from a secret government informant in something like an espionage case or drug cartel case or something like that. And then probably only that portion of the trial transcripts would be sealed.

Yes.
So he confessed to committing the crimes he was accused of, or no?

I only offer what people who were there said.....
"We sat in court yesterday and listened as Gerald Champ confessed on audio recording to molesting two little children. Fairly graphic detail was offered by Mr. Champ himself....By his own admission Mr. Champ is a sexual offender... "
