I did not catch that. If so, then that should have been toned down and worded better too. Thanks for you openness to input.

You are becoming increasingly unhinged, please just relax, and refrain from putting words in my mouth.
Judging from the Roe thread it seems you from Ohio. So now we can evaluate your home to New Zealand in terms of Covid response.
  • New Zealand: 1,713 COVID deaths
  • Ohio: 38,959 COVID deaths
Is it "unhinged" to point out these facts if the subject of the discussion is the effectiveness of New Zealand's response to the COVID epidemic?

The word I used in paraphrasing your post was "brutal". The word you actually used was "draconian" to describe New Zealand's lockdown. I was not intentionally trying to mischaracterize your words and if using the word "brutal" in place of "draconian" mischaracterized your intent then I apologize. Are we then in agreement that New Zealand's COVID response was not "brutal?"
Ken, New Zealand has one of the worst COVID death rates of any country in the world. Their 7 day average is 4x Ohio's, despite a population that is half the size and is healthier and younger than Ohio's, being an island that can carefully control everyone who entered, and vaccinating literally everyone.

New Zealand's COVID restrictions were brutal and inhumane, and they apparently didn't help anything.

Why are you so obsessed with Ohio? I'm not thrilled with my state's response either. The leading cause of death in Ohio in heart disease. Locking people up in their houses and the other measures resulted in half of people in my age demographic gaining 30 pounds. 2021 Heart disease stats are not available officially yet, but everyone knows it's bad.

I'm mainly just thankful that we didn't wreck anything worse than we did, and that COVID is not something we ever think about here anymore, other than the now regular occurrence of hearing about a vaccinated person in the community dying of "suddenly"

I’m not obsessed with either New Zealand or Ohio. You brought up New Zealand as an example of a country doing poorly. It is only reasonable to ask poorly relative to where?

If you look at a map you will discover that New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere which means it is mid-winter there and they are basically going through the same winter omicron surge that the US went through in February. This pandemic comes in surges as we all know. There is no mystery. It would probably be more instructive to compare New Zealand's current winter surge with the winter omicron surge in the US or Europe that happened this past Jan and Feb.

Manitoba's latest numbers are even worse.

As of may ~40% of Manitoba's population had been boosted.

16% was still unvaccinated but accounted for only 9% of deaths.

Ken, can you explain this with "seasonal waves"

Have you ever been to New Zealand? They do not have winter weather. It’s currently about 50 F there during the day whereas here in Ohio it is 68 F right now.

It seems like they are now admitting that the vaccine effects menstruation. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abm7201

The logical conclusion is that if a vaccine can change the cycle, then the vaccine could possibly result in miscarriage. Saying it doesn't effect fertility is still likely true but it might very well effect the unborn baby if you were pregnant.

Still having difficulty with statistics? The data you are showing is doing is the same thing as this graph that I just ginned up showing Covid deaths in Ohio and Vermont from the latest fatality data for each state. As you told us upstream "percentages are rates". Why on earth is your home state of Ohio doing 60-times worse than Vermont?

It is amusing (but not surprising) that no matter how hard you try you can't find anywhere in the world where the death RATES for fully vaccinated individuals are higher than for the unvaccinated.

It doesn't really matter what the climate is. Covid still goes in seasonal cycles. This is Florida. They had their all-time Covid peak on January 12 even though the winters in Florida is warmer than in New Zealand: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/202 ... cases.html

Except if people choose to be outdoors they are less likely to catch "anything" compared to indoors when you're in close proximity. It still seems to ne about that. Some people at this point are tired of living in fear, realize everybody's going to get it at some point most likely unless you live in a cave, and lately everyone I know that's had it is vaccinated except one whose symptoms weren't one bit worse than all the vaccinated people I know that had it lately

It was never tested on pregnant women in any of the trials. This is a point some were making about the rushed trials. It was not tested on children either. The trials are over and now we just have to adjust for the areas that show very negative side effects. I could understand this in the early days when there was so much unknown. I think big pharma is lobbying now and pushing politicians to keep using the vaccines in questionable areas too soon.

Please see the bolded part. Now I'm going to make it real simple:

Ohio has a larger population than Vermont and has a larger proportion of the deaths.

Ohio has a larger unvaccinated population than their proportions of the deaths

See the difference? Why do you keep accusing me of comparing absolute numbers, when I have only ever shown data with proportional rates?
