Can we be careful with the personal attacks please? This is supposed to be a conservative discussion also. We should be respectful of that request.

Ok, but maybe these kinds of comments could stop too?
Of course, liberals expect to barge in on any place conservatives are and then force changes they want. It is notable that conservatives do not do this to liberals. I don’t barge in to the Lutheran or liberal Mennonite church down the street and start demanding they accept the conservative point of view.

These are general statements and not calling out anyone personally. I see them as different. I can state my disagreement with that statement without attacking the one making it. I actually agree with it and have experienced it several times. Not all the time, but I have seen it happen. I have also seen those more conservative shut down any chance of change too. So it does happen in both spheres.

Ok. Please be consistent.
The typical liberal strategy to just continue shouting loudly, while refusing to listen to anything you don't want to hear. That's what Ken and Szd regularly do on threads they don't like. It's not conducive to fruitful discussion, and they repeatedly ignore requests to respect what OPs ask.

Look at how much better Rzehr's thread about marriage was without their vapid bleating about how great divorce is for "abused" women or something.

When I go to church, or visit church people, there is no room for a debate about, for example, the merits of fornication - at least with people who were born and raised in church.
The above is an example. Josh has been going on about fornication for a week now, accusing "liberals" here of promoting fornication or wanting to debate the merits of fornication or some such. When I expect you can search the archives here and find no such examples anywhere of anyone promoting fornication or debating the merits of fornication. This all comes from the recent thread "Ministering to People With Unwanted Pregnancies" where some (myself included) suggested that if you want to actually help young unmarried pregnant women move forward with their lives and decide not to get abortions, then the more effective way to do it is to actually help them move forward with their lives and not hector them about fornication. Because that train already left the station and they already know better than anyone what the consequences are.

Yet here we are a week later and Josh is still accusing people not as conservative him as promoting fornication or wanting to debate its merits. When the only one here who ever even brings it up is him.

I missed those. Thanks for bringing it up. I see these as personal attacks and should be avoided too. Let us all work harder to discuss the topic and not attack other posters.

Perhaps a relevant question is whether Ye Auld Site Janitor and the Honorable Site Admins/Mods will take personal attacks in hand if/when they (or even a plethora of others similar) are presented...? 8-)

Soloist wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 6:41 pm If you identify as conservative feel free to answer the poll/post comments.

As a general guide, conservative means that modesty, non-resistance, not swearing oaths, head covering, church authority, permanence of marriage and taking Jesus's teaching at face value.

I would prefer if nothing is debated and this is more or less just to gauge if there is considered to be value in it.
.. i had to read to remind myself what this topic is about. i’ve read, but have mostly refrained, i don’t object to head covering, but have never worn one, never attended where it’s worn or required. :?

Soloist is ignored on all points?! - Is this a special achievement?? (i don’t usually count.)

i don’t object to the subjective nature of admin+mods, nor perceived/alleged “imperfections,” believing it’s better to observe+learn and appreciate .. than not. :)

If those comments should be stopped, does that mean you should stop calling me a bigot, and saying I hate queers?
Szdfan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 8:17 pm I don't think that everyone who opposes LGBTQ rights is homophobic. I do think that if someone uses slurs like "trannie," repeats lies that LGBTQ people are more likely to abuse children and demonize people who are still on the margins, they are a homophobe. You're a bigot. You obviously hate queers.
