This could be in the "I find it funny" thread. Because I certainly find it funny. (God forgive me)...

Re: Conservative forum
i’m a little surprised several posts have not been moved to bunny trails or other? When some posts have ignored all OP requests. Considering recent conversations about conservative topics, just wonderin’.Soloist wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 6:41 pm If you identify as conservative feel free to answer the poll/post comments. As a general guide, conservative means that modesty, non-resistance, not swearing oaths, head covering, church authority, permanence of marriage and taking Jesus's teaching at face value.
I would prefer if nothing is debated and this is more or less just to gauge if there is considered to be value in it.

Re: Conservative forum
I haven't requested them to be removed. That might be part of it.temporal1 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 1:23 ami’m a little surprised several posts have not been moved to bunny trails or other? Re: Conservative forum
yes. in the past, i believe that held fairly true. in the last year or so, my perception is, mods have been more proactive in moving posts, even starting new topics, than before. i don’t object, just trying to follow their lead.
your OP was short+clear .. i was enjoying reading, not posting, i don’t wear a covering ..
Robert’s response to Josh, Page 3, i thought was helpful to understand general forum direction. “to post or not to post” ..
yet here is another “debate” - including full-on personal attacks (that did get a word of “guidance”).
true, nothing unusual, considering, but, esp following RZehr’s recent thread that hasn’t gone awry? - there was hope -
that SOME topics would be exempt, esp when requested in OPs. your OP seemed clear enough.
RZehr / Whose wife ..
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4843
just trying to figure out what is wanted ..
i do not expect rigid perfection, i don’t even expect to understand. i often accept what i cannot understand.
sometimes, understanding comes with time. i don’t count on it.

i like Robert’s response to Josh on Page 3. i hope it will become a forum “habit.”
i like his words, “This could easily be done” .. it’s well to avoid “going after a mouse with an elephant gun.”

Re: Bunny Trails
no. really. a sense of humor is a great thing. Robert has been known to say, “don’t take yourself too seriously.”
i agree.
i grew up in a quiet, stoic family. eventually, things began to lighten up. i was glad for that.
i was esp glad to witness my parents experience more light heartedness as they grew older.
who could blame them? not wealthy, hard working, trying to raise 6 .. much of it before polio vaccines.
they had experienced a lot, seen even more.
they did not take life for granted. i think once we all reached adult years they finally felt they could relax some. they did it!
6 children made it to adult years. whew.
when my mother passed, we had some good months with her. she was grateful to know she would pass without leaving debt behind.
their second life wish. to not leave debt behind. they did it. they worked hard and accomplished their life goals. never taking for granted they would.
life is uncertain.
and, sometimes, comical.

Re: More guided or less guided ?
"Most Christians changed their practise about slavery in the last 100 years."? Are you sure about that? Seems that would require that most Christians either owned slaves or else were slaves. Seems a bit of a stretch to me...Sudsy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 7:40 amCould not the same be said regarding slavery ? Not trying to get into debates over this subject specifically but I think this is an example of what I was trying to get at in the OP. I agree that most Christians have changed the practise regarding headcoverings in the last 100 years but so have most changed their practise about slavery. Most Christians would see these as both improvements to what was done in the past but the point is often made just because most Christians change a practise does not mean they are more Spirit guided than those who maintain a long held practise.RZehr wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 12:45 amAh, the good old “ancient culture” reason for not covering. Albeit Christianity understood it, and practiced it for 1,900+ of the last 2,000 years. I guess 100 years ago is “ancient culture”.ohio jones wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:51 pm
At 8:12: "They are watching those of us who have been redeemed live in rebellion against him" and two of the three people are rebelling against the very passage they are prophesying about.![]()
So my OP question was regarding whether we are more Spirit guided today with all of us now having Bibles in our hands than people were prior to 1900 or so. My guess is that most would agree that there are more variations in what Christians believe is the guiding of the Spirit today than ever before in our Christian practises. I don't really want to start another debate on headcoverings but the "because of the angels" was mentioned in a previous post I wandered into the area of our practises having an affect on angels.

Re: Pharisee Woes Thread
Regarding thread rules I was hoping we could have a thread without any direct confrontation to what others think on a subject. A thread that just allows each poster to share their thoughts without being challenged which seems to me to produce more harm than it does good. Too much ego involved.
I confess I have been a participant in this kind of thing and I wanted to see what it might be like to give our opinions without being directly challenged. Ones view may be an indirect challenge but taking someone's post and picking holes in their posts, imo, smacks of the ego getting into a winner/loser competition using various means of supporting references.
So, I'm putting this explanation here to try to keep the woes thread as clear of this as possible. Even if you totally or somewhat disagree with another's post, just state your own view and let it go with that. Thankyou and all opinions are welcome within this format.
