But I did hear (some time ago, before the Russian Federation started this war in Ukraine) that one of the criteria of joining NATO would be to legalize some of this immorality.

I don't know if that has been the cause of some hesitation or lack of support for NATO on the part of some Ukrainians, but I wouldn't be surprised, and it seems to indicate that someone in NATO thought there was a problem with Ukraine's stance on these types of things.

Before obama clarified his stance on prioritizing sodomy via U.S. Foreign Aid, i honestly had NO IDEA such shenanigans (extortion) were going on. That is, trading benefits+protections for acceptance of UNWANTED extreme Leftist policies. Ordinary people with ordinary morality would not guess as much. Of course, scriptures tell Christians to give freely (without demands or expectations).

(i believe Jazzman is correct) that Russia has been famous for vodka consumption, depravity typically follows drunkenness.
There can be no serious expectation Ukraine is a stranger to Russia’s carnal problems.

However.
There are exceptions, and this forum naturally highlights them, with ancestry, family, friends, and first-person experiences.
The tone here has largely been that Ukraine is an innocent hapless victim of mysterious aggression. i mostly saw it that way, reading mostly what i find on this forum. Real people, godly people, are hurt.

as a complete outsider, when i saw mike’s posts about talks, this became my focus, most of all.
praying for talks, praying for Putin, and, of course, Zelensky.

i definitely saw Ukraine as a country with 2 wolves at its door. i still do.

after learning of N Pelosi’s “wink-wink” from Billie Jean King to Zelensky AS UKRAINE WAS UNDER MILITARY ATTACK,
then, stumbling upon Zelensky’s vulgar dance history, my prayers increased for all involved.

there can be no doubt about the West’s far-left shameless agenda to promote+celebrate prideful sin.
the question now is: how deep into it is Zelensky?? not whether he’s involved, but how far.

he is in a really bad place. i wonder if he’s regretting any of his past??
right now, he may be looking at full-blown acceptance of wickedness (it will be demanded) versus Russia.
a rock and a hard place.

Jesus Christ is The Way.

(to me) Putin’s proposals, the little shared in public, look reasonable. definitely a starting place. neutral Ukraine.
will the West allow resolution? i have my doubts. the dirty West wants Ukraine. not a neutral Ukraine.

Jazzman is overall correct: no angels in the politics. there should be no rose-colored glasses for the West.

(that’s how it looks to me.) knowing, not all facts are known.

What does posting imgs of homosexual dancing have anything to do with this conflict...? Is there some narrative I'm missing that's suggesting Ukraine is more 'gay/homosexual' than Russia and so god's using 'christian' Russia to smite the Ukrainians (or West?)
If so then this seems to suggest a mixed up, unBiblical theology that I hear in our american evangelical world, that seems to rank sin and places some sins above others...
I think you have this backwards, Evangelical christianity is quite committed to the idea that all sins are equal. Which is not a belief I hold. i take 1 John 5:16-17 literally.
Jazman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 12:22 pm BTW, Russia may not be as 'gay' as the West, but it's a highly sexualized society... I've been there... So what if they have some anti-gay or anti-abortion law on the books... or Putin says this or that - doesn't make it more 'christian' and therefore has some God blessing for acting the way they are now...
Russia has a HUGE problem with drunkeness... stealing/cheating via corruption, deep deep systemic oppression of the poor by local mobs and oligarchs etc... Go ahead; bring up OT moral laws... Russia (and America) fail on so many counts in that regard, I would find it beyond absurd to suggest Russia earns the right to play moral enforcer...
Putin, while being a rank sinner himself, has still pushed back on the degeneracy of the west in legal and in cultural ways, like the "gay propaganda" law.

Zelensky, as a celebrity and comedian is unfortunately the face of western degeneracy. Promoting degeneracy is objectively worse than pushing back on it. Pointing out that there are other issues in Russia does not negate that.

Ukraine has all the same problems you brought up, but under Zelensky, they are also rushing headlong into the sodomy of the West.
i’m thankful most refugees have gone to Poland and Hungary.
from the little i’ve read over years, these countries support traditional families, are prolife. of course, they are under attack from the far-Left West for this.

i hope the refugees help build on what they have. i see this as very possible. i pray so.

Russia has measurably higher levels of social sin and dysfunction that just about any society in the west or western Europe. Alcoholism, rape and sexual abuse, drug abuse organized crime, murder,

Or are these not sins in your world?

Here, for example, is the murder rate for Russia compared to a random selection of western European countries. We can see similar patterns for crime, rape, sexual abuse, alcoholism, drug abuse, organized crime, etc. Tell us again how Russian society is a paragon of virtue compared to the west. That makes this war some sort of justifiable moral crusade against the west. Or are LGBT rights a bigger sin than murder in your theology?

Ken, I'm aware you think Russia the most evil place on earth, and that you're in love with Western liberalism. I just don't happen to share that love.

Pushing LGBT ideology on school children is an indicator of significantly worse moral decline than a homicide rate that is .00003 higher than the United States.

I know it's uncomfortable for liberals that the Bible condemns immorality, and the penalty for immorality is death. That's why I believe being a christian is ultimately incompatible with western liberalism.

This has been a real puzzle for me on this forum. Some vote for the DNC, denying they’ve voted for for-profit corporate abortion, and other unwanted policies - even tho there is no secret about what’s at stake. The DNC is not lying about its agenda.

Dennis Prager breaks it down in a way i think i can “get it.” This is brief, but, helpful.

just keep in mind that conservatives are liberals, but 20 years behind. They fundamentally believe the same things about freedom and liberty though.

For context, the Zelensky in heels was a parody of Beyonce's "All the single ladies" and the entire point of the video is that it's not sexy. The humor comes from how awkward it is.

It's not funny, nor is the bit where he plays a piano with his genitalia. It's normalizing degeneracy.

And just to make my position clear, children in drag is not funny either

I don't think Russia is remotely the most evil place on earth. I'd rather live in Russia than places like Saudi Arabia, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, Sudan, etc.

I'm just disagreeing with the notion that Russia is any sort of paragon of moral virtue compared to the west. And that this brutal, violent, and destructive invasion of Ukraine is part of any sort of justifiable moral campaign against "western decadence" or whatever nonsense the Russians are saying. By invading and bombing/destroying Ukrainian cities they absolutely forfeit any possible claim they might have ever had to morality or moral superiority.

I also don't think the US is any paragon of moral virtue either. We are frankly more like Russia than many western European countries when it comes to most social measures such as crime, violence, murders, etc.

So you idealize places like Germany, Japan, and the UK?

I don't idealize any place. There are many place that do some things better than the US. And there are some things that the US does better than anyone else. But I wouldn't put Russia on the top of the list on any metric I can think of. I don't think there is any place on earth that doesn't have room for improvement.
