i believe you are correct.
Jesus was “so smart” when He simply offered, “Follow Me.”

i pray Zelensky personally finds Jesus, i see no other way out for him in his miserable position. How used he must feel.
I hope that you have not given up on Putin. As long as there is breath, there is hope for repentance and salvation. (I think that we should pray for all people, for salvation. When I was in In HS the worst known national leader was Idi Amin. I had it written in large letters on one of my notebooks: "Jesus loves Idi Amin." And he also loves both Putin and Zelensky, and waits for them to repent of all unrighteousness. He would gladly take them in, and give them new hearts.)
Zelenski is Jewish. Many of his family were killed in the Holocaust.

Putin is Orthodox Christian. He was baptized as an infant and says he returned to the faith and became practicing Orthodox in 1993. He has stated publicly that Christianity is the foundation of the Russia State: https://apnews.com/article/c5323a9799cc ... 17f63388f3
MOSCOW (AP) — Vladimir Putin says the adoption of Christianity more than 1,000 years ago in territory that later became Russia marked the starting point for forming the Russian nation itself.

Putin’s comments came Saturday in a ceremony marking the 1,030th anniversary of the adoption by Christianity by Prince Vladimir, the leader of Kievan Rus, a loose federation of Slavic tribes that preceded the Russian state.

Speaking to thousands of clergy and believers at a huge statue of the prince outside the Kremlin, Putin said adopting Christianity was “the starting point for the formation and development of Russian statehood, the true spiritual birth of our ancestors, the determination of their identity. Identity, the flowering of national culture and education.”

The comments underline the strong ties between Putin’s government and the Russian Orthodox Church.

i wholeheartedly agree with you.

when i wrote, my thots were most with Zelensky, Jewish, caught between 2 imperfect powers, reaching out for earthly help, finding no perfect help answering, seeing his people+country devastated. Putin knows Jesus’ name. he must answer Jesus’ call. same for biden, pelosi, and so many others.

i do not celebrate the deaths of enemies. in my case, executions of osama bin laden, and saddam hussein were sad days for humankind. not everyone should be free to harm at will. yet, annihilation of enemies is not the way of Jesus Christ.

thank you for describing it so well.

I also do not celebrate the deaths of 'enemies'. I was saddened when Timothy McVeigh was executed (even though an uncle of mine was killed in that blast, so it was a lot more personal).

It doesn't matter if a person is an animist shaman, a Jew, or anything else, if they do not know Jesus, then they need salvation. (As for Jews, I helped out at a Messianic ministry while in Bible college in Minnesota, working with a professor at the school, who was himself a Jewish disciple of Yeshua.)

Interestingly the Knesset grew weary of Zelensky’s constant comparisons to the Holocaust. To wit:
Religious Zionist MK Simcha Rothman took issue with Zelensky’s reference to Ukrainians who saved Jews and tweeted: “I don’t understand Ukrainian, but if the translation I heard is accurate, Zelensky asked us to treat the Ukrainians like they treated us 80 years ago. I’m sorry, but I think we will have to reject that request. We are, after all, a moral nation.”

That actually isn't what your quote says at all.

Yes, at least some Jews & Israelis are disagreeing with Zelenskyy's historical characterizations.

When my family was new to the PNW, i went with them as they visited a few churches. One thriving, but not large, independent church had a pastor who was a former Jew, his family remains Jewish. He was such a good speaker, he knew his Bible! He was able to reach across ages and cultures; i was impressed how he spoke to young adults with families - definitely in need. It was an interesting experience, my family chose another church, but we still talk about him. i hope he is continuing to do well. He seemed to have a special depth in his faith, with ability to share it in inviting ways with others. That’s a gift.

i’ve had only positive experiences with Jewish people in my life. most often in the workplace.

Ok, here is another one:

“Former cabinet minister Yuval Steinitz, now a Likud MK, went so far as to say, “If Zelensky’s speech was given... in normal [non-war] times, we would have said it bordered on Holocaust denial... Every comparison between a regular war, as difficult as it may be, and the extermination of millions of Jews in gas chambers in the framework of the Final Solution, is a total distortion of history. The same is true for the claim that Ukrainians helped Jews in the Holocaust... The historic truth is that the Ukrainian people cannot be proud of its behavior in the Holocaust of the Jews.””

Yes, Israeli conservatives are looking for excuses to not welcome Ukrainian refugees. We knew that already.
