They certainly had some wonderful things to say about the Hutterites. Thank you for sharing it was interesting.

Correct me if you know otherwise, but from what I hear among the Hutterites that I know, feeding the truckers convoy was an act of solidarity with their political cause. It was certainly perceived that way by the world.

During the Revolutionary and Civil wars, the Mennonites of Pennsylvania were known to provide meals for strangers as well, feeding and caring for soldiers and refugees regardless of their sympathies - they did not discriminate between feeding British or Colonial, Confederate of Union. That type of approach, extending kindness to friend and enemy alike, is the witness of Jesus and is more likely to reinforce a Kingdom perspective.
The same Hutterites also extended a lot of hospitality to migrant refugees, which is just as political of an act as feeding a trucker convoy. And they were featured prominently in the news media for it.

How would you feel if I said Hutterites shouldn't do that, since embracing mass movement of "refugees" means pulling Kingdom people towards non-Kingdom causes?
No doubt the Hutterites are generous people. I'm glad to hear they have extended kindness to refugees - I would expect no less from any sincere follower of Jesus. Welcoming the stranger and feeding the "least of these" is written into our lives as Christians. Feeding refugees IS a Kingdom cause.

So, using that as a contrast to providing meals for the truckers' political protest doesn't seem to fit. Perhaps a better illustration would be if the South Dakota Hutterites had taken food out to support the Standing Rock Keystone Pipeline protesters. In that case, I think would have raised the same concerns.

Bottom line for me - feeding people in need and extending hospitality to friends and enemies alike in the name of Jesus is a basic Christian act. Motives are key here however. Were the Hutterites indirectly joining in to support a political protest, or were they simply practicing Christian hospitality? They know better than I do. We all need to be on guard - politically-driven worldviews (left or right) are always vying for control...and inevitably will compete with our allegiance to Christ.
Like it or not, participating in refugee resettlement programs means participating in the left wing politics of refugee resettlement. This is something left wing people support and right wing people don’t. I’m not saying it’s wrong to do it, but the fact you don’t think is “political” whilst you’re opposed to supporting truckers who would like to keep their jobs shows that you’re deeply enmeshed in choosing a political side as the “good” side.

It does appear that PM Trudeau and the Canadian Parliament are not overly friendly to people of faith.

Quebec Premier François Legault says his government will not go ahead with a proposed tax on the unvaccinated, in order to protect "social cohesion" in the province.

Legault made the announcement at a news conference Tuesday, where he also eased restrictions on gyms and sports activities.

The tax, first announced in January by the premier, would have imposed a monetary penalty on Quebecers who are eligible but who refuse to get their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Legault says while his government has a bill ready to go, he's decided not to table it after seeing "growing discontent" in the population.

"I understand that this divides Quebecers and right now we need to build bridges," said Legault. "My role is to try to bring Quebecers together to stay united as a people."

On the one hand it seems the government thinks restricting freedoms to do as you please is the best choice for people (Covid shots) while on the other hand making sure all Canadians are free from any attempt to change their sexuality (no conversion therapy) is the best choice for people. I consider what they think is best has some good arguments.

Regarding the former the majority do support what is seen by most as the best protection for all, and the latter I would think is also supported by the majority of Canadians, who are not people of faith. Some of the people of faith also believe, regardless of one's sexual desires, God can provide the grace to live with 'this thorn in the flesh'. I believe we all have certain 'thorns in the flesh' struggles that try to draw us into sin but God's grace is always sufficient to overcome these and it may be a lifetime battle. If these are not being battled, that is a different story.

I tend to agree with the approach that don't deny what scripture calls sin yet welcomes those that struggle with certain sins and note that other sins as these listed in Gal 5 - 'enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy' are also ones listed that will not inherit the Kingdom of God. These are listed along with sexual immorality and others yet don't seem to get anywhere near the attention of homosexuality.

I am just thankful that I don't have this struggle with my sexuality, it must be quite a challenge. Mine are more in that list I highlighted and at times, others in this list. One could look at that list and sometimes wonder if any of us will inherit the Kingdom of God. The flesh and the Spirit are often at war with each other and we need the continued grace of God to be overcomers.
