There are supplements that directly fight covid specifically.
Have you been tested? Do you know that you have Covid?
Everyone is out of the self test kits around here because of the wave hitting us. It could be a flu bug, but symptoms very similar to Covid. My youngest boy has been sick for 5 days and coughing all over me since my wife got it too and left me a caregiver to a bunch of sickos.

Two days ago, I got the slight fever, head congestion and heavy chest congestion. I had to evict a tenant, repair a door, fix a water line, repair a toilet seal and tend to the sickos. Yesterday, I had to drive all the way into the next town where my oldest boy was doing some training. He lost the car keys. When I got there, he reached into his jacket pocket and found them. "How did they get there?" I said don't loose them again and drove back home.

Yea, everyone else gets to sit in bed and be nursed back to health. My wife always gets every virus that goes around, so is usually sick the few times I get something. One day, I hope to get sick, everyone tend to me and I get to lay around.

I suspect this is Covid because virus, the few times they hit me, are 4-24 hours then over. This has been 2 days. It is bad stuff if it can keep me sick for 2 days.

Coughing seems better this morning. Now I have to call the title company in Texas to see if we can sort out things on the house we put a bid in or start all over with a new property. Oh, sorry. Not Covid related. Ignore that last line. ;)
I'm fortunate that because I work for a school, we have a regular supply of test kits. I usually get tested about once a week. Yesterday, we tested the entire junior class because one of them had tested positive. The day before, the juniors had a class meeting and all of them were in a room with that student for an extended period. Fortunately, we didn't have any positive cases. We also had to test the entire basketball team because one of the students tested positive.

I think one of the difficult or aggravating things about Covid is that people have different symptoms. I had Covid a year ago and it knocked me out. It took me about a month and a half to recover -- shortness of breath, exhaustion, etc. I think one of the hopeful things about omicron is that while it is more contagious, it is less severe, but there are still too many people ending up in the hospital. My wife lost a cousin last week from Covid. From my reading, the pandemic has not become endemic yet, but hopefully, we are on the way.

As a side note, Robert, blessings to you as take care of everyone and get ready to move. My wife and I purchased a small 17 acre farm at the end of October and it was an exhausting process that took months to purchase and to move.

No i didn't test for 2 reasons. I have the same exact symptoms but no fever actually that my manager did that I was just with 3 days before. I never get those symptoms I can't remember the last time I had those symptoms. Second reason even with my insurance they charged me 89 extra dollars on top of what my insurance paid to get tested which is stupid. Not only that when I was tested August 2 my test came back negative, but it turned out I was positive. So I don't trust the test I went with the symptoms being the same as my manager 3 days before, and my other manager told me to quarantine 5 days that was it. Like I said I was only sick for a few hours, so did the 5-day quarantine and lost the paycheck. I did not need to lose the paycheck plus the additional $89 out of pocket for the test.
I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that you might have Covid, but I would be cautious about proclaiming that these supplements are the solution without a positive test.

I was fortunate that when I had Covid, Colorado had free testing (I think it's still free at health departments) and that my paycheck was covered by the government. I think your experience shows how scandalously meager the support net in the US is. People should not have to choose between spreading a deadly illness and paying bills.

Szdfan, considering that tests seem to be in short supply, how exactly would making them free lead to more widely available testing?

And exactly what good does testing do? It doesn't cure people, and it should be obvious with the Omicron variant that trying to stop the spread is pointless. At this point nobody can even slow it down - look at Australia.

My state of Pennsylvania has seen the same spike in Covid as everywhere else, but has also been seeing a slow increase in daily covid deaths ever since August, currently around 130 daily. PA is up to #14 ranking of states in covid deaths/million. I noticed Florida is still dropping down the list and is currently #17.

I think that's one of the concerns about omicron. Even though its less severe, the fact that it is more transmissible could still make the hospital and death numbers go up because more people are infected. It's both a hopeful and concerning situation at the same time.

A thought about this Covid thing from the NT scriptures regarding our response to various trials. I view this pandemic as one of various trials. James 1:2
Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials.
Something to think about in our responses to this disease.

Do we have the right perspective regarding what a trial like this can provide for us in our walk with the Lord ?

Do we see it from a spiritual perspective in a positive way that in our walk with God to consider (count) it as 'nothing but joy' ?

Quite the opposite and nonsense to the world but isn't that the perspective we as believers are to take ?

Prominent public health officials have increasingly highlighted the limitations of cloth face masks, pushing for more effective respirator masks such as N95s as omicron engulfs the United States, a shift in messaging from earlier in the pandemic.

Officials encouraged the use of cloth masks in the spring of 2020 as a desperate measure to slow the spread of COVID-19 after previously recommending against masks and continued to boost them in the months after. Now, though, more experts are saying that the masks are not helpful.

“Cloth and surgical masks do absolutely nothing for protection from ambient virus,” said Chad Roy, a microbiologist at Tulane University School of Medicine, referring to the virus spreading through the air. “All this song and dance of wearing cloth masks with some presumption that you're being protected from ambient virus is completely and positively 100% counter to how masks and respirators work.”
This is what I have been saying for the past year.
