I think part of the subtext here is that transgender people don't really exist.
Maybe the subject is a resentment of the empowerment and celebration of a mental illness.
So we should make public policy based on your resentment of LGBT students?
Chuckle… Nice job of twisting what I said and then using YOUR distortion against me. Pffft at your BS. Try again if you want to play with the rational adults.
I’ve spent the last 9 months dealing with this exact type of thing. I have lost all fear of calling it out and I have lost all patience with it. It’s evil and I wil call it out every time I see it.

Either way, it's a belief that transgender is not a legitimate identity that has any place in society.
A couple of months ago, I went and sat with a trans friend in the middle of the night who was contemplating suicide. The reason why they were considering suicide was the intense loneliness and discrimination they received in this rural, deeply conservative community.
If you care about mental health, then the prejudice, discrimination and demonization that transgender individuals receive plays a huge role in that.

Just to make sure I understand. Are you saying transgender people and their supporters are evil?

Nope. I am saying that twisting someone’s words and then weaponizing that twisted version to besmirch them is evil.

True… The answer is not the elevation and celebration of that illness and the subjugation of society to that illness.

You claimed that the subject at hand is resentment at the empowerment of LGBT students. “Empowerment” is a noun that applies to individuals or groups of people.
If it isn’t you who resents this empowerment, who’s resentment are we talking about?
And just what clinical evidence do you have that LGBT students are mentally ill? Are you a psychiatrist? Is this a subject in which you have medical expertise and training? I have the occasional LGBT student in my classes. On what basis are you claiming without having known or met any of them that they are mentally ill?

I no longer engage people in serious discussion who will twist my words then use that twisting against me. Sorry, not sorry. Have a nice day.

Why is this person living in a rural, deeply conservative community? Why force nonBiblical beliefs on conservative communities who have clearly decided that those beliefs are not in their value systems.
The problem I see with all of this alleged hand-wringing over mental health is that of blaming those communities who have rejected the gender identity ideology. There are communities who have no problem with it: move there. If you care about your friend's loneliness find a way to help him move to a more liberally minded community. Don't blame the place where one lives for one's problems. One's problems come from within; take responsibility for sinful inclinations and address them in the manner that fits one's values. Do not try to change everyone else around you just because you decide you no longer share their values. Relocate.

Would you give the same advice to all the conservatives in my more centrist community who are unhappy with mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and policies that are supportive of LGBT citizens, social justice, etc? Opinions and positions in which they are in the clear minority? Just get out and move to Idaho or Mississippi?
