  • Three [CDC released] studies that drew data from different U.S. regions evaluated the protective power of the vaccines. One looked at more than 600,000 virus cases in 13 states, representing about one quarter of the U.S. population, between April and July, and concluded that individuals who were not fully vaccinated were far more susceptible to infection and death from the virus.

They were 4.5 times more likely than vaccinated individuals to become infected, 10 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 11 times more likely to die from the coronavirus, the study found.

Vaccine protection against hospitalization and death remained strong even when the Delta variant was the dominant form of infection. But the vaccines’ effectiveness in preventing infection dropped from 91 percent to 78 percent, the study found.
I'm curious what current stats would be. There seems to be some variation by area. The local health unit said tonight that unvaccinated were 9 times as likely to be infected as fully vaccinated. The actual provincial numbers today released by the provincial government showed 534 unvaccinated testing positive and 189 fully vaccinated testing positive. That differential has been dwindling very slowly over the past 2 or 3 weeks.

That's still almost 2 months old though, I think?

Here locally we have a grandfather who won't be allowed to go to his granddaughter's wedding tomorrow. He is in an LTC home where they have had a breakthrough outbreak, involving both staff and residents, as far as I know, all fully vaccinated. Three residents have died. This grandfather has had 2 shots plus a booster, but he will remain locked in his room tomorrow.

In BC I keep seeing updates of nursing home outbreaks. The nursing homes don't ask individual's with dementia and Alzheimer's if they want the vaccine - they are given it - period. And most of them accept anyway, so yeah, Mike wanted an example of tyranny(nevermind his bias) - come to Canada where individuals are forbidden to do certain things unless they are vaccinated but if they are involved in an outbreak in a place with 100% vaccinated people they are now too forbidden to do certain things. Weddings are restricted in BC so that you have to be vaccinated to go to one, but same thing if you are in an outbreak you aren't allowed to go to an event where only vaccinated people are allowed to be present... Looks like they are protecting the vaccinated against the vaccinated now...

Nursing homes are death camps.

Our church has a nursing home, 33 residents. They were under tight lockdown for a year and a half. They got the vaccine a few months ago, and 11 residents DIED within a week. 3 more died a few weeks later. 14 dead out of 33.

Since they only had been vaccinated for a week, they counted as “unvaccinated” deaths. The cause of death? Allegedly covid.

Nothing was reported in newspapers other than a few obituaries.

“Between Jan 1 and Aug 30”

Hardly anyone was vaccinated on Jan 1. What matters is the rate right now - it’s become obvious in Israel they vaccination makes no difference in hospitalisation rates.

This kind of reporting is dishonest and is simply political propaganda to drive an agenda.

If only they did a compare contrast with dates of vaccination the same month as infection, age breakdown, and health issues and compared the rate of repeat infections to breakthrough infections... It would be amazing if someone did that. Then we would actually know if natural immunity or vaccines were better...

well... I was actually being sarcastic in reference to the very poor CDC study compared to the study from Israel...

Something that has been intriguing to me is to observe the common media narrative that the majority of the unvaccinated are Trump supporters, and yet it was Trump who started Operation Warp Speed to get the vaccines developed and available ASAP. Similar to some of the assumptions being made on MN, to this day Trump claims that millions more lives would have been lost if not for Operation Warp Speed. On this particular issue, it's intriguing to me that the true Trumps supporters are those pushing the vaccines while the media narrative "Trump supporters" are not his supporters at all. What a mixed up world we live in! :D

Young people, blacks and Hispanics are among the most vaccine hesitant. They also are a very large Democrat voting Bloc.
