There are troops all over the globe. Technically we are still at war in Korea. But I think this was the last place we were actually engaged in direct combat against a declared enemy in something that was actually labeled a war.
I don't think war was ever legally declared in Afghanistan (or Korea, or Vietnam, or Laos, or Cambodia, or Iraq, or Kosovo...).
I don't think we have had a declared war since WW2. But we have still had the Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq War and Afghanistan War. Which everyone recognized as wars.

Right now we probably have troops doing things like drone strikes in Somalia against Al Shabab terrorists and who knows what "advisors" meddling in conflicts all over the globe. But no one really considers that sort of thing an actual "war" in contrast to say Iraq and Afghanistan where tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of US troops were mobilized and deployed to fight conventional battles. At one point we had over 100,000 troops in Afghanistan engaged in a lot of brutal and direct fighting.

I wonder how long we have to wait until we are in the next war and where it will be.

Biden’s been in power 9 years; it shouldn’t have taken him this long to deal with this complete failure.

speaking from someone with some connections... the military can target them quite easily when they are moving. We have a film of ISIS fighters leaving the city under pretense of being refugees. We escorted them to the border keeping the Kurds from killing them from air. We have no limitations on cell phone surveillance over there and burner phones are useless against military tech.

One thing that doesn't make sense is to withdraw, and then immediately thereafter send in 5,000 or 9,000 troops or whatever the current plan is.

Sounds like they are there to secure the airport and facilitate evacuation only - then backing out in a few weeks. We'll see how that goes.

HE’s BEEN IN THE WHITE HOUSE FOR 9 YEARS; in elected office for decades, as many other career politicians have been.
When careers are the motivation, not public service, the results are dismal - not dismal for careers! - for the people.

Mostly agree or mostly disagree?
I tend not to give much weight to Russian propaganda. You are quoting from Putin's personal state-run media mouthpiece. If Russia is so worried, they can go back into Afghanistan. They are right next door.

That’s like saying the NYT and WaPo are Biden’s personal state-run mouthpieces.

Mostly agree, although that writer is a bit dramatic.
