Just ask, I'm happy to tell you. Because you're right, you don't seem to have a clear idea of my beliefs. And I'll do my best not to represent yours, I'll let you do that.

Of course not, that's why we look to Jesus and to the Bible. I have done some of that in this thread. It would be great to see all of us do a lot more of that in this thread and in others. Let's stop invoking Christianity and hitting each other on the head with the Bible, let's pay attention to what it says and live it out together.

1. thanks. :)

2. your hortatorial style with pronouns suggests you envision yourself as leader. this distracts me.
it suggests (to me) you see yourself as leader. it doesn’t resonate on this forum that is not a stated church.
in scriptures it was used between like believers that knew one another. it’s a stretch on this forum of mostly virtual members.

Discussing scriptures and Jesus is great.
Overuse of hortatorial pronouns suggests you have it right, and others do not. Esp with sighs of impatience thrown in.

i find a lot of authentic seeking of Jesus on this forum. i’m happy to say.

this is Max’s topic, you’ve posted a lot.
Max has many topics of Christian nature with no response. you’re not interested?

But she did answer, here's the answer I quoted earlier:
Bootstrap wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 12:04 pm But the quotes from Beth Moore herself seem pretty clear.
Beth Moore wrote:I hold firmly to a traditional Christian sexual ethic and continue to believe the Bible sets apart marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman. But I also believe that Scripture clearly teaches that all sex outside of marriage is contrary to God‘s will.
She also said this:
Beth Moore wrote:Here is what I no longer have the stomach for after the last several years: the hypocrisy burgeoning from hyper fundamentalist Christianity. I do not lack a Scriptural view of sin. I just believe in a longer list of serious sins than some.

“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21)
I agree with both of these statements.
That seems like a biblical answer to me. What am I missing?
Incidentally, can I point out a little irony here? I have quoted this three times, it's direct and to the point, and you have not responded. Instead, you say this:
Soloist wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 4:19 pm I presented proof for you and you rejected them.

Its been pointed out to you by Robert, Josh and myself before and likely others. I don't see that you learned anything from having it pointed out or will going forward.
But if I can't find that proof, could you please help me out with a similarly clear post? People seem to point to web pages and then insist they have proven something, don't take the time to actually provide the proof, and blame it on me. I'm not doing that to you, I am providing the proof for you again, the third time, hoping for you to respond to it with a similar level of direct proof.

Care to provide that proof? Or some evidence that you have provided it in the past? Or admit that you haven't?

The Catholic Church still takes a strong stance against both homosexual and heterosexual sin, despite some specific parishes being way out of alignment.

MC USA seems to have decided to turn a blind eye to homosexual sin, and individual churches that try to take a stand against it find themselves in BMC’s crosshairs (well-funded with outside money; they won’t say exactly from who).

Beth Moore is moving in a liberal-progressive direction. We all know how that ends. The slippery slope is real. Those of us who don’t want to have to affirm and support active homosexuals, transsexuals, and polyamorous people in church leadership don’t want to be around anyone who thinks the slippery slope is OK.

We're on Page 15 now. Nobody seems to be providing evidence of that. And nobody seems to want to frame this in biblical terms, compare how Jesus related to these things, etc. It's all worldly political framing and talking points, with no evidence.

You can memorize phrases like that and use them right and left without any evidence of wrongdoing at all. And that is a VERY slippery slope.

What if we focused on being Christlike, following the Bible, and not try to crucify people whose writings we have never read and about whom we know very little? What if we took the fruit of the flesh seriously and decided not only to avoid sexual immorality, but also to stop importing enmity, strife, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, etc. from the world using very political language?

Let's not join the political goon squads.

Shorter Bootstrap: “Why can’t everyone agree with me on everything and do exactly what I say?”

Many of us don’t want our congregations being run by people by Beth Moore. If you do, by all means, go for it.

I don't think Christians should play unethical goon squad.

I'm asking you to provide some evidence for accusations you are making in public or admit that you do not have that evidence. And when you keep avoiding that question, repeating the accusations more loudly and trying to smear me at the same time, I want it to be very obvious that this is what you are doing.

My goal here is quite simple: I would like to make MN a less sinful place. If you have evidence for your claims about Beth Moore, please provide it. If you do not, we are on page 15 now, is it time to admit that you do not?

boot,
might you be getting a bit overwound? ..
i’m pretty sure admin+mods are not offering this forum as a place “Where Mennonites and others” .. gather to sin. :-|

have you taken Josh’s interpretation to a higher level? - “Why can’t everyone stop sinning and do exactly what i say?” :? :? :?

i don’t sense unethical goon squads on this forum. i thank admin+mods for it.

maybe take a breather? :)

DanZ had some helpful forum advice. i’ll try to locate it: Introductions / viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17

A few thoughts I've latched on to along the way that would make the MN experience a better one for all:
 1) We need to leave our pride at the door - we're likely wrong more than we think we are.

 3) Come understanding that when our ideas are challenged two things can happen - we can learn to better defend our beliefs and ideas that can stand up to challenge, or we can learn to move on from the weak or faulty beliefs and ideas that don't stand up. Either way is a win for us.

 4) Don't label others, or turn them into a caricature of something in your head. They are dearly loved by God, and likely more nuanced and complex and insightful than you are able to discern from MN alone.

I see plenty of threads that simply echo the character assassination of the day without providing evidence that it is true. Social media paints a target on someone's chest and people join in, posting a thread on it here. I ask what exactly the accusation and what the evidence is. And mention what page number we are on ;->

If someone walks in making accusations, that should be treated seriously. We don't want to be the goon squad. That's not the Kingdom of God. This is really Christianity 101.

I hold an opinion Beth Moore is moving in a liberal-progressive direction, and cite as evidence the fact she is moving in the direction of affirmation.

Beyond that, these are matters of opinion. This isn’t a “goon squad”; I’m one person whose opinion probably matters little. I’m just saying that my goals are not aligned with those who are sliding in a liberal direction.

I’m not interested in hearing about fact checks and other leftist debate tactics.
