ECT is a short form for Eternal, Conscious, Torment. A belief that came about in church history that those who do not put their faith in Christ for their salvation will end up in a lake of fire of endless, conscious torment. Still used today by many in their evangelism.
I agree as it states in Genesis 1:29-30 we and animals were not originally meat eaters. I have tried a vegan diet for a short time and it is interesting how fast our taste buds can change. This is a popular habit of eating by the Seventh Day Adventist. God said what He created was 'good' and then man disobeyed and brought death into the world. I'm thinking all killing is what God intended and the Anabaptists understand it correctly regarding mankind. But animal life should get much more respect than it does.
I really don't know if ECT is true or not, but I wouldn't want either options... That being said...
Detach yourself from your emotional response for a moment... how do you know aborted babies go to heaven? Any verses to support this idea?
I just noticed I missed putting the word 'not' in my previous line that was intended to say 'all killing is not what God intended'.
I will try to be less emotional in my response I don't know if or at what point aborted babies may go to heaven and don't know of scriptures that say anything about this.
My point was that often the same people who are so against abortions and talk about it often, don't seem to take an equal concern for the born that might end up in ECT. To me, not trying to save the born from an eternal state of concious torment in hell is far worse a fate than being aborted since I believe our eternal state requires a choice the unborn cannot make.
But back to the treatment of pets like children as l see the unofficial forum police are trying to keep us 'on topic' .

A relative of ours ours has a dog that they had bred. The weeks leading up to her giving birth was almost as if they were expecting their own child.... all over social media and the like. They refer to the puppies as their "grandpuppies."
I support a local mission that trains dogs as service animals for disabled people. I get the bond that happens there. But when we start to replace children with cats? I gotta draw a line there
Getting back more on topic - why would a cat be where you draw the line ? Many people enjoy the comfort and ways of a cat and what is especially good about cats is they take well to litter boxes and don't require outdoor walks. Also no barking issues to deal with.
I mentioned this because an elder in our church once commented on the fun he gets in getting his dog to chase, catch and kill a cat. And other men remark that they would try to avoid hitting a dog on the road but never a cat. It would seem men especially don't value the life of cat. I don't know why this is.

I agree. Recently someone posted on Facebook marketplace that they wanted to sell their dog as they were getting older and didn't want to take it along on camping trips etc. They had had the dog for 8 years. They were berated repeatedly for giving one of their children away. You just don't give your children away because you are tired of taking care of them.
We definitely live in a perverted society where animals seem to be held on an equal if not higher level than humans.
I agree that animals should not be 'held on an equal if not higher level than humans' but to sell a dog because it has become old and inconvenient strikes me as quite selfish. I wouldn't want to be their parents as they might take a similar attitude and stick them away in a home and treat them too as no longer any benefit to their lives.
If it comes to the point where we can't keep our pets for some reason(s), we would try hard to find them the best home possible but not try to make money off the process.
I also disagree with keeping a pet, regardless of the pain it is going thru that can't be controlled by drugs. I think in this case a human gets a much higher level of regard than a pet and human life is much more precious in any decision to 'pull the plug', so to speak.

One might note that there was nothing said about these folks selling their dog because it was old, but rather because they themselves were getting older.
Secondly, "selling" the dog isn't necessarily always about making money off of it. We have noticed that it is easier to find good homes for kittens if we sell them for a small fee rather than offering them for free.

I stand corrected. Actually I'm sitting. One has noted his mistake.
I do not idolize animals, but I treat them with respect. I believe they have feelings. When I see a drowning bee I help her out. I am also pro-life....I respect all life God created...All of them are here for a reason and after studying insects in Homeschool with my son, I admire God's wisdom in creating them. Animals are also innocent, and suffer because of human's sin. They will probably be vindicated in some way by God, because He is not unjust.
We should not get into extreme and have to respect animals and treat them with compassion...The world idolizes them, but we have stay away from that, because we know better.
U.S.—Democrats have finally turned on Planned Parenthood after the organization announced its new puppy abortion program.
Many thought Democrats would defend anything and everything Planned Parenthood does, but it seems they've finally done something Democrats are willing to criticize: killing puppies in the womb.
The abortions for dogs are performed under the organization's new "Planned Puppyhood" program. Planned Parenthood calls the program "Female Dog Healthcare" and says it is necessary for a dog's health and emotional well-being. "Her litter, her choice," the program's slogan goes. "Kill puppies -- no matter what." They will also be selling aborted puppy parts to the highest bidder.
"This is outrageous!" shouted one protester at a Portland Planned Parenthood clinic. "Planned Parenthood is murdering precious little dogs, pretending that it's just canine healthcare. They are participating in a modern-day holocaust that will end millions of cute little puppy lives. They are profiting off the murder of the unborn puppies. This is totally out of character for them! I can't believe they would do something like this."
Democrats say they will end their protests if Planned Parenthood agrees to go back to just killing human babies.
.. They will also be selling aborted puppy parts to the highest bidder. ..
This is really “out there.”
It would immediately conflict with regulations on animals used for research.
