There are others as well, as was mentioned, though he isn't as acerbic, Doug Wilson, etc.

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Trying to say Doug is less acerbic than Dale, believe it or not.Ernie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 3:52 pmYou are saying that Dale is not as acerbic as Doug?joshuabgood wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 3:08 pm They are independent I believe. My understanding of Doug Wilson is that he's actually quite pastoral, despite clips of him taking extreme positions you may have heard.
I personally cannot see the point of being "turbo reformed", but I guess that's why I'm not a Reformed Baptist, or Calvinist, or something of that ilk.

Well, I asked my resident expert on Presbyterian Polity. King's Way may not be formally Orthodox Presbyterian, but seems like it. Some churches in the OPC have encouraged women to cover in church in the past, my wife, in fact, remembers always wearing a hat to church, and she was RP-ES. Their theology would be similar to the PCA. They would largely be like most other conservative Presbyterian churches.Ernie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 12:17 pmCorrect.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 10:34 am There are several recent threads on groups that wear head coverings including nationalists and Muslims. I think this is the danger in judging by the outside of the cup. Not everyone who wears head coverings is like plain Anabaptists.
That is why I started a thread to understand more about the theology of King's Way and related churches.
Is King's Way independent? How many more churches think similarly to King's Way? Who do they fellowship with? How do they differ from other Reformed, Nationalist leaning churches? Etc.?
Doug Wilson is Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC). It holds what is called Auburn Avenue theology, or "Federal" theology which is where they get some of their more distinctive doctrine. This is likely to include such things as "family" communion and Paedocommunion. This would likely differ by congregation.

On some level I agree, I would imagine the average Doug Wilson church member is more zealous than the average plain anabaptist. Therefore invoking a “danger” you might pick up on.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 10:34 am There are several recent threads on groups that wear head coverings including nationalists and Muslims. Im not sure if this is a positive or negative…

You mean like them, seizing power of the government and burning us at the stake?

Somehow I doubt there is much risk of this from a denomination of 160 or so churches, who hold to doctrines that most of the rest of the conservative Reformed world finds dubious. One might as well sit around worried about a Mormon takeover - after all, they're already deeply embedded in much of the government.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 9:46 pmYou mean like them, seizing power of the government and burning us at the stake?

Yes in the 1500s, in 2026 the landscape has shifted and they would probably find substantially more kinship with conservative anabaptists than almost anyone in the US.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 9:46 pmYou mean like them, seizing power of the government and burning us at the stake?

Many of their members probably don’t subscribe to a lot of the stated doctrines.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:28 pmThey regard us as barely saved, if saved at all.Anthony wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:02 pmYes in the 1500s, in 2026 the landscape has shifted and they would probably find substantially more kinship with conservative anabaptists than almost anyone in the US.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 9:46 pm

I know a girl in the church in Idaho. She wouldn’t really care about Reformed distinctives. Basically wants a church with some community and structure which they do actually do a good job of, hence their growth.
