Today ...

A place to relate, share, care for, and support one another. A place to share about our daily activities and events around the home.

A couple days ago a big billboard sign was put up just a few minutes from our home in a very rural area... Seemed strange but it had the words, "Read a good book today." And then there was a picture of Jesus Christ with crown of thorns.

Today it is painted with big letters, "BLM" and the "L" is a big fist salute... I looked up the BLM website - they are self professing Marxist communist's that want to abolish the police, they don't promote nuclear families, and many other things. People are really being deceived but are so worked up they won't even listen and are unknowingly pushing communism and the abolishing of judicial systems so the people can just self-govern one another... This is all so absurd it is hard to believe what is happening... Imagine if this goes through and in a couple years North America as a communist continent where Karl Marx's idealistic system exists but it is full of fallen sinful people who really can't self-govern. Wow...

i have not looked at their site, or at anything about them. many are describing similar to what you describe. early-on, i sensed they were an organized political bloc, i do not join such things, ever.
at this point, i’m REALLY glad i can say that. i’ve never joined a political party, either. ever.

i do not like what is happening, that is, the widespread, “official” demands that every human being, from smallest child to (grave) recite precise language demanded by this group, no exceptions!

in the U.S., people are free to NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance, they do not have to honor U.S. flags, they can burn flags, stomp on them, spit on them, anything is allowed (no matter who they deeply hurt in the process) - yet, along comes this political bloc-du jour, and, “wham!” get on your knees and recite!

this is a very bad path. there are no winners here. there will be regrets, all-round.
this is not ok. there were no elections, nobody voted for this. the bloc has no constraints. they are making things up as they go, pushing boundaries, no regard for law, lawlessness is their aim.

i hope this may quickly prove “so bad” that people will open their eyes to what negative power the internet and social media are now capable of - and REJECT it.

laws are dependent on the majority being willing to be governed. if there is no widespread, agreed respect for law, no system will hold up.

there is funding behind this, it’s not just a spontaneous event of the moment. i’d like to know how deeply into the Public Treasury it is, both in direct and indirect funds.

partisan politics AND political blocs should not be showing up in public schools.
however, it’s so common, most do not question it, they expect it! some vote for it!
that doesn’t make it right.

i shudder to think what children will be subjected to when school reopens.
many teachers are all-in with these scripts, and enthusiastically promote them during school hours.
i don’t believe they are aware of how over the top this is. they are proud.

i’m sickened.

black lives matter, yes. all lives matter, yes. organized political blocs, no.
not for me, not forced with public funds. do it on your on time, using your own resources.
most of all: know the difference.

Wade, you may find the Center for Biblical Unity movement in this thread a refreshing counterpoint. It’s a movement that I can certainly support.

a couple of weeks later, i now see this “organized political bloc” as a cult.
i’ve outlived a number of cults in my life, some were doozies. :-|

never one that enjoyed political and media backing like this one.
it appears, every gov school will address it, many will affirm it, even demand conformity.
abuse of the Public Treasury.

i’m not sure how many are planning to home school. lots of talk out there about it.

people need their churches badly. church leaders need inspiration from the Holy Spirit.
this is my world-wide prayer.

beware political blocs and cults.
they begin with some attractive premise. then they devolve into intolerant bullying tactics.
blocs and cults are not of Jesus Christ.

The rest of the ceiling tile just came in. Will pick them up this coming week and finish the ceiling. We are replacing the counters with tops without built in backsplash, so I will bring the backsplash down to counter height after we replace it.

Today, I woke up with a contrite spirit. I gave in and told my wife we can paint the outside of the house light gray instead of white.

Then I got over it and got on MN. You don't get any of my contriteness. I am over it.

i was in the house most of last week, sick with a terrible cold that hit-hard with e-v-e-r-y symptom "in the book." ugh. fever and sinus headaches were the worst. still coughing, hoping it will not mutate into bronchitis or pneumonia.

i have had both in the past, not for over 10 years.
i know this, judging from the expiration dates on cold medicine in my cabinet!

i had a box of (vintage) Kleenex in there, too.
comparing my new box with the old, it appears we are now getting about half the tissue in those same size boxes! for the same or higher price. tricky marketing.
the numbers may be similar, the tissues are not the same. achoo!

i am blessed to have not been sick, especially during those years when caring for my husband and mother. we did lots of handwashing, "walk in the door, wash your hands!" - with all we had to cope with, seasonal flus left us alone. wash hands and pray! we shared so much, were so grateful for our time together.

at that time, we heard (from Hospice nurses) of so many deaths in hospitals/nursing homes .. patients dying of flus and infections. at home, we were able to bypass those things. to have more time together, quality time to share and remember.

so many loved ones in my heart. friends and family.
well. my grandmother told me, this is the hardest part of getting older. missing loved ones.
i was so young, a child. probably 10. i had no idea what my life would be.
now, somehow, i am her. or, my best imitation of her! in her shoes, i'll just have to do! :P

"the Black Plague

According to Stephen J. Spignesi in the “100 Greatest Disasters of All Time”, the defeat of the Black Plague was largely due to improvements in hygiene, which prevented the fleas from transmitting the disease to survive. However, it took more than a century for Europe’s population to return to the pre-pandemic level. The disease had appeared a few times before but was not as destructive as the first time. It remained in history as the Great Plague of Vienna (1679) or the Great Plague of London (1665–1666), continuing to appear until the 19th century."

The quote above was from Page 2, 2016, back in olden times when people got sick and hoped to get better, without international effort to intervene.

Coincidentally, this year, i viewed my first lecture from THE GREAT COURSES:

“The Black Death: The World's Most Devastating Plague” Course No. 8241
Professor Dorsey Armstrong, Ph.D. Purdue University
https://www.thegreatcourses.com/courses ... lague.html

There are 24 lectures. i was able to view at no cost, but there was a time limit. i viewed over half, before the offer ended. so, not sure “how it ends.” a cliff-hanger for me. :P

i’m enjoying your walk through the forum archives .. i enjoy doing this, also. :)

One day ..
i hope to read about how all these present-day measures taken to prevent COVID19 may have prevented lots of colds, flu, and other communicable disease? my guess is, there must be lower numbers across the board? of many infections and deaths.

altho, possibly some statics have increased? possibly suicides? neuroses? anger?

i view this today as a big experiment.
i was born into a world without vaccines for chicken pox, measles, mumps, flu, even polio!
schools and work were rarely closed, altho, i know, for sure, sometimes attendance was very low.
it wasn’t by gov mandate. missing school, work, church, were serious matters.

often, children and adults would come to school/work, etc., with fevers, coughing, sneezing, and full symptoms of illness. typically, nothing much said. pass the kleenex! (red spots would get you sent home.)

eventually, children were required to bring a couple of boxes of kleenex at the beginning of the school year, knowing cold+flu season would come.

those diseases were awful. i survived most. i did not contract polio or scarlet fever. but, i remember my parents’ intense fear of them. whooping cough. so many serious diseases.

interesting COVID19 seems to go easy on children. so far, it’s not a common “childhood disease.”

i’m witnessing and experiencing this 2020 experiment, hoping it works.
i want to be with my family again. :)

First there is and was God's Word. God's Plan. God's Purpose.

Then came sin.

Then came disease.

With God's Promises "resurrected", comes hope, healing, and resurrection from the dead. (like the valley of dry bones?)
