Lifetime in a 6 and 8 qt https://www.cottagecraftworks.com/lifet ... ezer-maker

Immergood electric motor is not ready for market but we do have it in a tool battery model, it is the only triple-action motor on the market. https://www.cottagecraftworks.com/immer ... am-freezer
Those cranks are tough to work after a few turns. I think what I will do is get a 6 Or 8 quart model; attach a gear to the crank; run a chain to a bike: then let the youngsters have at it.
My girls can usually get it 80-90% finished with our hand crank White Mountain model. But I have to take over and finish the last 20% or so when it starts getting hard to crank. If your kids are about 10 or older they should be able to do the same.

The real key is to build up a really good slushy brine solution which chills the ice cream much faster than solid ice and salt. And they actually turn easier when it is in a soupy brine rather than hard solid ice. That's why you need a good machine that doesn't leak.

I asked about the reliability of the Country and Lifetime motors, compared with the old White Mountain and new Chinese White Mountain.

Answer:
“Yes, Country are made in the US. We have been selling both Country and White Mountain Motors for about 10 years now and have only had issues with about 5 of each one so from that standpoint it is a toss-up. If you are looking at an 8-qt the White Mountain motor is not strong enough so that is why we only offer the Country motor for the 8qt freezers.”

Me:
“Is the battery powered Immergood motor top quality? Any persistent problems or weaknesses?
What does triple action mean? “

Answer:
“They have been using it in the Amish communities for about a year and have good results. The Amish make ice cream several times a week. It is triple action meaning it works just like a hand crank which turns the Dasher in one direction and the can in the opposite direction. The inner Dasher turns with the can so it is mixing the ice cream triple to a standard White Mountain motor that locks the Dasher and spins the can around it.”

After talking with so-and-so from the OP about old White Mountain vs. battery powered Immergood, I have ordered a battery powered Immergood. So-and-so didn’t seem to think the battery would be a big problem. I guess we’ll see about that.
The battery doesn’t come with it, But I already have the battery and charger from a cordless tool I have. Next time I buy a cordless tool I’ll be sure to get the same brand, so I’ll have another extra battery.
I’m curious how long a battery will last.

OK, now this is one way to do it. This guy is driving four separate ice cream makers off a single motor!

I guess color me a skeptic on this triple action thing.
Our old White Mountain with an electric motor has the same can setup that Ken describes - the dasher inside the can has a square stem that goes up through the can lid, the can lid has a square nub on the top that allows it to be turned by the motor, and the inner section of the dasher is connected to a fitting in the bottom of the can so that it turns with the can. I don't know if the dasher is held stationary or if it rotates opposite the can, but I can't see how it would make a lick of difference. The exact same effect can be achieved by rotating the can faster. The only possible difference I could imagine would be that it might take somewhat less power to increase speed by rotating the dasher opposite the can vs. spinning the can faster, but I would expect the difference to be minimal.
Seems like a marketing gimmick - but I don't suppose there is anything necessarily bad about the concept.

I thought about that too. My guess is that the gearing works so that hand-cranking you only have to go at 1/2 the speed to get the same stirring effect as you do with the electric motor with only one part moving. Without having an electric and hand crank machines side by side, I'm guessing that the electric motor driven models are turning at 2x the speed as the average hand-crank.

I'm looking at the manual that came with my machine and it doesn't specify any optimum RPMs to achieve with the hand crank machine. But I'm guessing that if they hooked a motor up to it and everything was spinning 2x faster then we'd have whipped cream before you got ice cream.

They have setups similar to that at the NC State Fair every year. And their ice cream is good.
