Re: Poll: Masks and Face Shields
Frankly, I believe that nobody should be shaming me or you into wearing a mask. If someone is afraid of getting corona from us, it is incumbent upon them to take protective measures they feel are necessary. This could be as simple as staying home. Or they can get a better mask. Perhaps the respirators worn in paint spray booths or to work with hazardous fumes would provide better protection. But it is not my job to wear a mask so someone else can have a false sense of security.
Further, if they say my breathing can give someone corona if I carry it, then why to test for corona, do they have ram a swab halfway into someone's head via the nasal cavity to get a sample to see if they test positive? Shouldn't one be able to simply breathe or cough onto the swab?
There is way too much about this that just does not make sense.

Right, they have to jam a swab that far back, yet California claims normal singing in church will spread the disease. Meanwhile, these tests have inaccuracy rates around 45%.

Correct. I'd feel better if people had to dress more modestly in public, so while we're mandating masks, let's mandate veils, long pants for men, shirts for men, and modest attire for women. After all, those things all have health benefits - plus they're things ordained by God himself, so we know they're a good idea.Fidelio wrote:Frankly, I believe that nobody should be shaming me or you into wearing a mask. Well... if we are going to be silly about our objections to authority God has given the government... Lets also mandate Vit-D for everyone as conservatively dressed people don't get enough sun.Josh wrote:

I personally wear it wherever its required by the store or the law but I believe its usefulness is about comparable to a handkerchief

Not all governments have mandated wearing masks, and there is significant political disagreement over what, exactly, to mandate.Soloist wrote:Well... if we are going to be silly about our objections to authority God has given the government... Right. And there isn't some national mandate to wear a napkin over your face, and many states don't have a requirement to do so, either.I personally wear it wherever its required by the store or the law but I believe its usefulness is about comparable to a handkerchief

To the left: Just think of the environmental impact of all those mask! From manufacturing to disposal, it can't be good for the environment. And I thought the world is over populated!
To the right: If Bill Gates (or others on the left) is trying to kill off the global populace, why wouldn't they be encouraging "risky" behaviors and minimizing precautions?

When you sneeze or cough or sing, where do you think the air you exhale comes from? From under your tongue or deeper inside your respiratory system?Josh wrote:Right, they have to jam a swab that far back, yet California claims normal singing in church will spread the disease. And yes, you could theoretically obtain a positive sample by coughing on a swab. But if you want to avoid more false-negatives you need to take the sample from the location where you will most likely find the highest concentrations of virus. Which is deeper inside your respiratory system. Unless you are happy with a testing regime that has closer to say 90% false negatives. Or maybe 99% false negatives. The tests are designed for maximum accuracy which requires taking a sample from the sampling location with the highest concentration of virus. Since you can't swab down into the Alveoli deep inside the lungs, going deep into the nasal cavity is the next best thing.
Also remember that the quantity of virus needed to start an infection is only one individual virus. While the quantity needed to obtain a positive test is potentially many millions as the tests need to detect the virus RNA and a single virus would be undetectable. You need enough virus RNA to trigger a positive result in the testing reagent.

Re: Poll: Masks and Face Shields
The Covid lockdown is Satan's greatest success in recent history. Satan has managed to fool people into shutting down religion and destroying the economy, all for a disease no more serious than the flu. God controls reality, so God has made covid evolve into a relatively harmless virus. Satan controls people through lies. And it seems that many Mennonites are now listening to Satan.
Even though the American government is basically controlled by Satan, it is best not to resist the government, so I wear the mask where it is required by law.

If this poll is any indication (I suspect it is) many of us may comply and complain at the same time.
It reminds me of my wife's story of when she was a little girl...her mother told her to sit down at the dinner table, to which she promptly complied, but then said quietly "I may be sitting down on the outside, but I'm standing on the inside."
