I go to sleep with Youtube now a days. Tell her she is showing up in my recommended videos next to Bigfoot, Fallout 4, and Ancient Archeology, oh and my favorite Canadian lawyer dude.

I was able to watch the last video on burr comb. I learned a bit. Thank you!

(I have limited internet so I have to be careful with my usage, especially with my husband who needs it to do some work at home things so I have not watched the others as of yet, but will).

So, I have a few questions.

First, it looks like I have a lot more bees in my box than Emma. Like a ton more. Mine seem "crowded". This is why I put the second box on them, but they haven't used it as of yet.

So, if I "checkerboard" them like she recommended, would I need to move some of the crowded ones up top and then give them some empty space?

I am not sure I want to do that though, because my plan was to have the queen and all the brood things happen in the bottom box and have food storage in the second. I currently have a queen exculder on the bottom box.

Lol. I fall asleep to cabview train rides from places like Japan or Switzerland or Norway.

What are you recording with? I might make a suggestion or two.

If you think that’s impressive, I’m working on a video where my 8-year-old doesn’t wear a suit.

Stout hearts!

I am not keen on stings. I walked over a nest of yellow jackets once. Nasty, aggressive vespulas.

Again, I may bee wrong. But I don't think crowded is why they did that. Bees tend to move up. So maybe don't put another box on top until the current box is 80% full or so. Otherwise they may skip filling the box they are working on in favor of the new, higher box.

This afternoon something very odd happened.

My daughter came running in and said the bees are going crazy.

So, we went out to see. Nearly a 100 or so were buzzing around as if they would when they go out to forage. Except, you never see that many at that one time. And, then there were bees all over the hive...covered it actually, on the ground and basically everywhere. You could hear the bees from the front of the house (they are in the back).

I thought they might be hot.

But, now I am not so sure.

My husband did not want me to go investigate.

I don't think they were swarming because I did not notice a capped queen in the last check, but, I guess I could have missed it.

We came in the house to let them calm down. It was about ten minutes. When we went back out, all was normal again. We did not see a swarm.

When it cools down a bit I will go check on them.

thoughts?
