Who speaks for the black community?

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

Ken:
And there is no more a "black community" in this country than a "white community".
There are many many different black communities that may share common opinions about some issues and differ on others.

This is my real life experience of my entire lifetime.
“Those with microphones” want to convince otherwise. :blah: Universal condition.
boot’s subject line: “Who speaks for the black community?”
not me. not you.

did Jesus use polls? :?
Matthew 16:13 comes pretty close. :)

I don't think this is a fair statement...

Maybe this is splitting hairs, but isn't racism actually when people are unfairly "judged" by the color of their skin?

That’s what it used to be. Now that we’ve progressed a bit as a society on that, certain people are working hard to redefine racism to include everything under the sun, because the term “racism” is such a powerful and useful hammer to beat opponents with. See some of the MN threads.

Boot's Title: Who speaks for the black community?
There are many black people who speak for the black community, but have they allowed biased racists like Don Lemon, Al Sharpton, or racist organizations speak for them? Have they left the rioters and looters speak for them?

joshuabgood wrote:"White men denying the existence of systemic racism, that is the essence of white entitlement. We do not need their permission or their sign off on what we know to be true and what we have lived. That is whitemansplaning. How can you solve this problem? The systemic racism that is killing people of color if you won't even admit there's a problem? First step is admitting there's a problem. America knows which way the wind is blowing."

That is a quote from an actual black man, Don Lemon.
Do you for one minute think that Don Lemon is less entitled than 98 percent of people in North America? Seriously folks think about it. Just think for one minute with an open mind about this. That is CNNsplaining at it's worst.

I would be interested in what your definition of systemic is. If it means that certain people within an organisation think and act a regular or predictable way in certain situations than I would agree that systemic racism still exist in far too many organizations. If you mean that all people within certain organizations react in a certain way to certain situations when it comes to racial matters I reject it as least as it relates to any of our public institutions.
If you mean that public institutions still have policies written on their books that discriminate against blacks I need to see the proof of that. It should not be hard to find. Find me just one policy that is in effect in any major police department that is in writing that does not attempt to treat people of colour fairly. Just one. If they are there I will be the first to speak out against them. I would even accept an unwritten rule if it can be proven that it is the regular unapologetic practise of everyone on the force.
This really should be a very easy assignment if it is even close to as prevalent as some say it is.
Again just to be clear. No one is denying that there are abuses. I believe we just saw a very obvious abuse in MN. Even though we do not yet have proof that the man's skin colour was the deciding factor in the abuse. But I believe some officers are abusive period and some do pick on people of colour. I just do not buy that it fits under systemic just because a privileged person like Lemon says it does.

First two minutes of video above suggest to me that the man should definitely be speaking for the black community. Unfortunately, it is predominantly leftists who are controlling and speaking "for" the black community.

This lady speaks for the black community with wisdom:

And these guys also:
