What is your church doing for services during the COVID-19 outbreak?

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

We observed the Lord's Supper over zoom and everyone used what they had on hand, since it was very short notice. My husband and I used prune juice and tortillas. :P

We had to improvise as well. We used hibiscus flavored tonic water (yuck!) and leftover bread from the breakfast. Not very orthodox :D

Our pastor posted a communion youtube video. My wife and I participated with unleavened bread and wine, then washed each other's feet.

We had our traditional Good Friday service yesterday via zoom. It was made up of a bunch of readings short 5 minute talks and some families singing. It was quite enjoyable. And well attended.

Most of our Masses are being said live on tv which we don’t have. There will be some we can access while maintaining social distancing. A retired couple we know has a tv and we can watch with them without sitting next to each other. Other than that we’ll just keep it quiet and focused on prayer and Scripture reading, rather like Jesus in the desert.

Our church had its Easter sunrise service today, with most people in their cars. It was really good. Tomorrow would have been rained/stormed out, according to the forecast.

If there is any interest, I can share information for various Holdeman churches. There are both Internet streaming links and also dial in numbers.

Let me know.

Do any of you belong to churches where either some or all of the people are meeting, either at a church building or in homes, despite government orders not to gather in groups?

We are currently without a regular church group since we stopped having people over to our home on Sundays and my wife and I don't agree where we'd go if we could anyway.
And I am not aware of anyone else gathering together in our area.

I think this is the 5th week of watching our online service, via smart tv- we can pull it up full screen that way-
It's been a blessing. I suppose like the old 'yellow pages' motto- "It's the next best thing to being there"- phone vs face to face. I MISS REAL CONTACT WITH PEOPLE! Even when the Church was underground, or has been in various places during this 2000 year Church Age- Believers could meet somehow, someway, to pray together! No danger in 'physically contacting' each other, the Holy Kiss was not life threatening!

So we sit on our couch to watch service. We participate- I know when we sing our hymns or spiritual songs, we 'stand' so at home, we stand! We know when to sit. We pray along with worship leader and pastor as they face the empty chairs they face, conducting the service. This must be so strange for them- Jesus and the Apostles, and down through the ages, didn't do this type of preaching or service!

I guess I got a little too comfortable, when sitting down, I leaned my head over on Neil's shoulder-so he said to me-
"We're in Church!" :laugh

It is what it is for now. It's not about us anyways, it is about Him, but we are the Church, wherever and however we meet.
I feel really sorry for those who live alone, although if they are close to the Lord, they are never alone- but still- He gave us each other to have fellowship. For those, especially, I'm thankful there's ways to 'view' services.
