This is the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (H.R. 6201), sponsored by House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey. Nancy Pelosi and Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin spent a lot of energy on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 negotiating changes to this bill that would be acceptable to both the President and the House.temporal1 wrote:Extraordinary measures are being taken.

I think that's a great example of bipartisanship at work. Crises remind the government that it should occasionally take a break from campaigning in order to govern, this is a good example of that. It has passed the House, but according to the Senate tracker, it has not yet passed the Senate.
I think there will still be real pain for people who miss work because of COVID-19 and for small businesses. This bill does not reimburse every hourly wage worker for all time lost. But it will really help if it passes the Senate, I think it is expected to.
