Re: Poll: Personal Coronavirus Permanent Impact
i chose 5.
i am praying we will not experience a worst case scenario.
of all things, i’m hoping there will be a natural immunity for all, to prevent reinfections.

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

8. Would have voted 9, except for two aunts in retirement communities.

Re: Poll: Personal Coronavirus Permanent Impact
What definition of "somebody I am close to" should I be using?
And should I compare this to other reasons for people being hospitalized? I have two friends in the hospital right now, neither one has coronavirus. But it wouldn't be terribly surprising if someone I know does get hospitalized with coronavirus. And my friends skew old.
I would be extremely surprised if nobody I know winds up sick with coronavirus, but the poll specifically speaks of people being hospitalized.

So number 5 means you think there is a 50% chance either way.
Close is open to definition. It should be more close than a distant acquaintance. But doesn’t have to be a personal confidante. We don’t need it that close, but let’s say you and them should at least know each others first and last name without having to scratch your head to remember it.
And for a forum exception, we will include all forum member as automatically qualified for “close”.
Yes, specifically hospitalized or death from this virus. Simply getting sick doesn’t count for this poll.
Boot, I don’t understand your second question.

It has reminded me mostly of the Hong Kong Flu, but I do not remember if there was anyone I knew then who got it.

Re: Poll: Personal Coronavirus Permanent Impact
I think the German government was probably right, if not brutal in their honesty by predicting 60 - 70% of their population will get it. If the data so far are correct, around one percent will die. I suspect this is close to what we should expect here. The efforts to contain are really efforts to smooth the curve so as not to overwhelm the medical system. If it follows the path other corona viruses, it will die down for the summer and pick up again in the fall. Perhaps a rushed vaccine could be a reality by then. I would be glad to be proven wrong and its all just a "hoax" as my landlord assures me.
