My doctor told me the following joke today when I checked in with him.
What goes great with coronavirus?
Lyme disease.
Coronavirus Outbreak

Don't count your poultry before they are hatched. Any modification of a drug or vaccine becomes a new drug, subject to testing and regulatory approval. 18 months would be optimistic.Bill Rushby wrote:There's a chance Israeli researchers may come up with a usable vaccine faster than has been predicted. They are attempting to modify a poultry vaccine that may work on COVID-19! "Infectious Bronchitis Virus, which affects poultry.." https://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-f ... JEAuKh_RMQ
As far as testing, most teaching hospitals already have a test. Many are pending approval. I saw the first negative one today, I was a bit surprised to see it so fast.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
One of the problems with the current tests is that they are, well, not well-tested. The current one in use has a lot of false negatives.
It is also unproductive for large masses of people to flood doctors and hospitals, demanding to be tested.

The ones coming from teaching hospitals and commercial labs will be a whole lot better. Most teaching hospitals have Chinese connections. Information flows both ways.Josh wrote:One of the problems with the current tests is that they are, well, not well-tested. The current one in use has a lot of false negatives.

I doubt the usefulness of really any of the "information" flowing from China these days.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Lyme Disease isn't a joke to me. I know too many people who have had their lives compromised by Lyme.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Neither is Coronavirus I suppose but a little levity can be like a breath of fresh air in otherwise tense and nerve-wracking moments. I appreciate SZD for his ability to do that in his gentle and respectful way. That last line belongs in a different thread I think.Somebody wrote:Lyme Disease isn't a joke to me.
