The "Poor man" part caused me to raise my eyebrows a bit too. Merriam-Webster's definition of poor is "exciting pity." So I guess I can see why someone would call him "poor man" since the sins/crimes he's committed point to a man devoid of conscience who seems currently bound for hell.Joy wrote:"Poor man"?

Yes. It was reported that he showed no remorse over his crimes so unfortunately it looks like he's not inclined to repent at this time. Maybe his poor health and age will cause him to start to think seriously about where he'd end up after death.Judas Maccabeus wrote:least he repents .Aslanhasheard wrote:The "Poor man" part caused me to raise my eyebrows a bit too. I think the "quaker" model of the penitentiary had this in mind.Aslanhasheard wrote:Yes. The Quaker model huh? I know a bit about their approach to mental institutions but I don't think I've ever looked at their approach to penitentiaries. Sounds like it would be interesting to learn about. I'll have to go look that up.Judas Maccabeus wrote:I think the "quaker" model of the penitentiary had this in mind.Aslanhasheard wrote:Yes. Try the info on Eastern State Penitentiary. I suspect you will find it interesting.Aslanhasheard wrote:The Quaker model huh? Thanks. That was one of the first things that came up when I did an internet search. I'm off to read more about that now.Judas Maccabeus wrote:Try the info on Eastern State Penitentiary. Is that not an object of pity?

Even a man like this, deplorable and pitiful as he may be, never stops being a beloved child of God. These detestable wrongs can't be undone, but healing might still begin to happen. I pray that before he dies his heart breaks for what he has done - and I also pray that the dear children he abused can someday know remorse from him.silentreader wrote:Aslanhasheard wrote:The "Poor man" part caused me to raise my eyebrows a bit too.
