Sasha Krause: Missing

Re: Where is the Sasha Krause thread?
I just read this article on a missing persons case that has been unresolved for 23 years, in which the FBI has told the family to prepare for news. They also said the family should secure a spokesperson.

Re: Where is the Sasha Krause thread?
I wonder if it's standard procedure for the FBI to tell a family to do that or if there's something unique about the Kristin Smart case? 23 years. That's a long time for a family to wonder what happened.mike wrote:I just read this article on a missing persons case that has been unresolved for 23 years, in which the FBI has told the family to prepare for news. They're also being told they may want to "go away for awhile." Talk about a cliffhanger. I think the suspense and worry would just about do me in.Aslanhasheard wrote:I wonder if it's standard procedure for the FBI to tell a family to do that or if there's something unique about the Kristin Smart case? 23 years. I saw that part too. I can't imagine how they're dealing with this at the moment. Though it's been 23 years so I guess they've had a lot of cliffhangers to deal with in that time.mike wrote:They're also being told they may want to "go away for awhile." Talk about a cliffhanger. Re: Where is the Sasha Krause thread?
My expectation of what happened was 100% confirmed. Good call. Regardless if I agree or not, it's your call.Robert wrote:I came across the request about 2 AM last night. I did not have time to really dig into it. I just archived the thread until we (Mods) had the time to sort it out. I just erred on the side of safety until we got more information. I can move the thread back once we get more details.
I don't usually react the requests for threads to be gone, but a missing person is a different issue and would rather be safe than sorry. I am not interested in the fact that this information may be out there other places. I can not do anything about that, but if it helps the family right now, I am happy to do what little we can here.

I think there's some pertinent questions that should be asked here.jcxm360 wrote:I'm the one who passed on the request to shut it down. Motive is not mine. Apparently there might have been some type of info being shared here that caught their attention and they contacted me to pass on the request to shut it down.
Who are you?
What is your connection to this case?
Which law enforcement agency contacted you?
Did law enforcement contact you directly?
What method did they use to contact you?
What specifically did the request say?

I think we would all be shocked who watches this place. I found that out when the CAM thing was blowing up months back.RZehr wrote:Mennonet is hardly a high profile, widely read social media outlet. I’ve already seen newsletter style PDF email attachments this morning via mass email.

From my understanding, the request came from the family, not law enforcement. Waiting a few days to see how the dust settles will not affect our ability to pray for the situation.ragpicker wrote:I think there's some pertinent questions that should be asked here.jcxm360 wrote:I'm the one who passed on the request to shut it down. Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.

Re: Where is the Sasha Krause thread?
I don't have access, but I had a different read on the matter. Less so than a claim of LEO requesting, but I am still highly uncomfortable with an anonymous stranger showing up and claiming to speak for the family. More so for LE.Robert wrote:From my understanding, the request came from the family, not law enforcement. I 100% support your decision and the reasoning behind it though. I don't even care about the thread being gone per se.

Re: Where is the Sasha Krause thread?
Beings I volunteered with a local search & rescue team, my advice to the family if they're reading is to designate a public information officer (PIO). Any and all info about the situation should come from that person only. I've seen how information wildfires have hindered searches because everyone is assuming details.
