Why do you find JBG's analysis to be "anti-American"? Why not read it as someone who cares enough to hope for a better tomorrow rather than move away (as suggested earlier). Maybe JBG would like to build on the nobler aspirations of the American experiment, by sweeping away the dirt and chaff. I imagine he would condemn many other horrors around the world as well.Josh wrote:I tend to view anti-Americanism like Josh displays here with suspicion since it is part and parcel of left wing (and anti-Jesus) thinking. If it were paired with similar condemnation of other countries, or just the world as a whole, I would be less suspicious.

I don't have time to write about the whole world...but I was very explicit in the writing that America is morally no better or worse than other pagan states. They are simply the most powerful right now. That's all. They won't be forever. The age of the West is coming to a close. While I don't agree with him on everything, Pat Buchanan is generally right in his thesis that the West is dying. The age of the white man is drawing to a close. (That should get some responses *ducks and runs for cover*).Josh wrote:I tend to view anti-Americanism like Josh displays here with suspicion since it is part and parcel of left wing (and anti-Jesus) thinking. If I were predicting, I'd say more like China/India. The Chinese figured out its more important who owns the orchard than who eats the apples.QuietObserver wrote:Islam is taking over?joshuabgood wrote:I don't have time to write about the whole world...but I was very explicit in the writing that America is morally no better or worse than other pagan states. You're starting to sound a bit like Trump. This has been a pretty consistent message from him. (*also ducks and runs for cover*)joshuabgood wrote:If I were predicting, I'd say more like China/India. He is right in his assessment the USA isn't what it used to be. He is wrong in thinking it can be made great again. Meaning made into the same economic power it was in the first two thirds of the 20th century.AnthonyMartin wrote:You're starting to sound a bit like Trump. Re: 400 Years of African Slavery in America
I’m not sure what being a “superpower” has to do with anything, but yes, American society, culture, and freedom is vastly superior to that of PR China. If you can’t see that, you are wilfully blind or you are one of those liberals with a hatred for the West.
The only reason China would have risen to some great prominence is because American politicians had been busy selling out to them, by the way (something Trump decided to reverse). Your type of thinking was also common in the 1980s when many leftists proclaimed how Soviet Communism would replace the West.
The real question is why you so gleefully want a PR China police state to replace the West.

This is a very puzzling comment. Pretty sure I am not a liberal or wilfully blind. And I am pretty sure there are At least a several hundred million people who would question your assertion of superiority.Josh wrote:I’m not sure what being a “superpower” has to do with anything, but yes, American society, culture, and freedom is vastly superior to that of PR China. And yes, the decline of Western dominance was in full swing by the 80s. I think it started in a big time way with the fallout from the Great War.
And lastly, not sure why you ascribe glee to my analysis. Personally I hope you are right and I am wrong, in many ways, however to my eye the data is just too compelling. The west is dying.
