I told my wife tonight I figured it was a set up by someone. I still think it is pretty funny.

The shirt was a give away for me. I want one now.
It can also be a double bluff: Dems hiring those in the group to make Trump look bad by association: “if these crazy people support Trump then reasonable people shouldn’t” is the message. A friend of mine told me of one such incident in which a person who formerly was associated with the KKK had a pro-Trump rally. It turns out the local Democrats had paid him to do it. The man liked the money and didn’t care about the politics. It takes all kinds, especially when political parties get desperate :? I just stay from the circus of those kinds of stories.
Maybe apply Occam’s Razor before going down some sort of conspiracy theory thingy rabbit hole? The group behind the stunt admits to it.
In this case (pro Trump rally by alleged KKK) it was a fact not theory. My friend isn’t into politics but watches the circus for its entertainment (which I do not). After a civil investigation it was found that technically no crime was committed but the incident further blackened the Democrats’ reputation in that area when the truth came out. He says the local population see the Dems as pro-homosexual, pro-death for the unborn, and now as manipulative “cheats”. Some reality is stranger than fiction, SZD, especially when it involves politics. This is a very good example that no political party is worth worshipping; and how the nonresistance teaching is a Truth that keeps discipleship focused on God instead of the worship of, and belief in political ideologies.

Talking about hiring people this seems apropos (even though old):
Meet the Money Behind The Climate Denial Movement
Nearly a billion dollars a year is flowing into the organized climate change counter-movement

By Colin Schultz

The overwhelming majority of climate scientists, international governmental bodies, relevant research institutes and scientific societies are in unison in saying that climate change is real, that it's a problem, and that we should probably do something about it now, not later. And yet, for some reason, the idea persists in some peoples' minds that climate change is up for debate, or that climate change is no big deal.

Actually, it's not “for some reason” that people are confused. There's a very obvious reason. There is a very well-funded, well-orchestrated climate change-denial movement, one funded by powerful people with very deep pockets. In a new and incredibly thorough study, Drexel University sociologist Robert Brulle took a deep dive into the financial structure of the climate deniers, to see who is holding the purse strings.

I don’t doubt this is true. And I believe the other side is motivated by the dollar as well.

Currently California can’t keep its power grid on and lots of places are having planned blackouts. Electric cars aren’t gong to be a good option in California until they get their generation and grid problems sorted out.

This is quite good. To me, this is the money quote:
I think that generally, people have things that are more within their purview and that they are avoiding them, and the way they avoid them is by adopting pseudo-moralistic stances on large scale social issues so that they look good to their friends and their neighbors. That's what it looks like to me.
I think that's equally true of both sides of debates like this one.
